stocking up on my regulars this year and only trying one new product, the tatcha overnight repair cream. i’m working on sticking to what works and not introducing a ton of new products- a newer favorite of mine is the fenty skin FAT WATER. I AM OBSESSED. it’s like a thick creamy essence and literally feels like a cushion of bouncy water on your face. i’m extremely dry and this adds an extra element of hydration for me morning and night. 10/10 recommend

Night 2 of Skin Cycling: Retinol ✨

Night 2 is my favorite night because the next morning you can see RESULTS. you’ve primed your skin by exfoliating the night before, and now your skin is ready to soak up the benefits that come with using a retinol. If you’re new to using retinol, i recommend starting off by mixing a small amount with your moisturizer to introduce your skin to this new ingredient. Retinol can be powerful so it’s important to start small for the first few weeks until your skin has adjusted.

Order of operations:
1. cleanse
2. retinol
3. moisturizer
4. optional- oil

Night 3&4 of skin cycling are focused on restoring the skin barrier and letting your skin rest- think hydration. it’s important to remember these nights involve no active ingredients, just let your skin rest up! treat these nights like taking a break between hard workouts

Your guide to the first night of skin cycling- exfoliation! I’ve included some staple exfoliating products across different price points and they will last you if you follow the skin cycling routine, which keeps their use to twice a week. Here’s the order of the exfoliation night:

1. Cleanse (or double cleanse if you’ve been wearing makeup)
2. Exfoliate on dry, clean skin
3. Moisturize
4. Deal with an oil (this is optional but I love an oil to seal in my moisturizer and keep the skin hydrated after exfoliating)
