My reading list to start the year + my favorites from last year

3 books I loved recently
My newest library haul! 📚
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Katherine Center did it again. I just LOVE her books. Her writing is impeccable, the story lines always a little heavier with great love stories weaved within. Love. She’s one of my favorite authors and this one was so good.

Brief summary- Emma Wheeler desperately longs to be a screenwriter. She’s spent her life studying, obsessing over, and writing romantic comedies—good ones! That win contests! But she’s also been the sole caretaker for her kind-hearted dad, who needs full-time care. Now, when she gets a chance to re-write a script for famous screenwriter Charlie Yates—The Charlie Yates! Her personal writing god!—it’s a break too big to pass up.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was just an easy listen (besides one of the narrators voice was badddd). Two sisters, life, divorce, kids (triplets!) and all the mess in between. Easy listen, cute enough.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Apparently this is the second in a series but it didn’t really make a difference. Again just a cute summer romance read. Funny dialogue, cute characters, very easy to read
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cute. Easy to listen too- sweet characters (though easily forgettable), funny, romance, very easy summer read. If you’re looking for some thing that is just simply entertaining, this is it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good but heavy topics. I enjoyed the characters but there is a LOT going on. I probably won’t read the others…
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

I know this rating is gonna get people fired up but here my out. Yikes. Haha I know it will get better because I trust the 2000 DMs I received over this book and I trust Sarah Maas. So I will continue but this was slowwwwww. It kept me interested but wasn’t my fav yet
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Again cute! This one is the second to the cheat sheet (even though you don’t have to read that one to read this one) but it tells you more about characters you already love.

Another NFL football player, ex girlfriend, forced proximity, rekindled love? Another easy fun romance read 🏈⭐️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cute cute cute. Sarah Adams has the sweetest way of writing romance. They are so easy to read, you immediately love the characters and the plots are always fun. This one is about best friends who actually love each other. And the main character male is the best NFL quarterback around. 🏈
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Heartbreakingly beautiful. Emotional, funny, sweet and wonderful. It goes back and forth between present day and WW2. So well done.

Summary- Told in alternating timelines, THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED examines the risks we take for love, the scars too deep to heal, and the endings we can’t bring ourselves to see coming.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really loved this book. Full disclosure- I listened to it and I think that made it even better than reading it. The author was the narrator and she was awesome. I cried at the end. Oh and it’s better (way better) than the movie on Netflix. It is racy, be warned.

Brief summary- When Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of a prestigious art gallery in Los Angeles, takes her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band, she does so reluctantly and at her ex-husband’s request. The last thing she expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon. But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such a sweet romantic comedy with great characters, a creative plot, and short chapters! I really enjoyed this book and devoured it in less than 2 days. It’s so cute and based in omaha! Love. ❤️

Brief summary: Their name? The objectors. Their job? To break off weddings as hired. Their dilemma? They might just be in love with each other.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I LOVED this book. I loved the characters, the setting and the writing. I was hooked from chapter two. Such a sweet romance novel with lots of extra layers. So good.

Brief summary- Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it's now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

It was cute and had great dialogue plus I really enjoyed the plot. But the main character was exhausting and kind of blah. But in pure Emily Henry form, it was a cute summer beach read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ one of my favorite reads of 2024. Carley does it again with a great storyline, characters and she sets the scene so beautifully. I know have to visit PEI 🤍 I just love her books.

Brief summary- Lucy is the tourist vacationing at a beach house on Prince Edward Island. Felix is the local who shows her a very good time. The only problem: Lucy doesn’t know he’s her best friend’s younger brother. Lucy and Felix’s chemistry is unreal, but the list of reasons why they need to stay away from each other is long, and they vow to never repeat that electric night again.

It’s easier said than done.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Her books are always the perfect mix of nostalgia, romance and great writing and storytelling. This one is no different. I always really enjoy her books.

Brief summary- Fern Brookbanks has wasted far too much of her adult life thinking about Will Baxter. She spent just twenty-four hours in her early twenties with the aggravatingly attractive, idealistic artist, a chance encounter that spiraled into a daylong adventure in the city. The timing was wrong, but their connection was undeniable: they shared every secret, every dream, and made a pact to meet one year later. Fern showed up. Will didn’t.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not as great as the other ones in this series but still good and it was nice to have a quick easy read. I’ll never tire of this series or these characters
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Let’s call it between ⭐️⭐️⭐️ and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It was a cute (very predictable) love story with first glance enemies, a TON of miscommunication, then turned lovers. It was an easy, cute read but nothing mind blowing. Apparently it’s the second book of a series but I don’t feel like I missed out by not reading the first one.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Omg. Omg. I loved this book. It’s so well written, descriptive, great plot and twists, the characters 🥵. Is it fantasy? Yes. Is it romance? Yep. Is it 500 pages? You betcha. Did I read it in 5 days and can’t stop thinking about it. Yes!

On to Iron Flame!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My first read of 2024! A very cute story about two scientists at Stanford, fake dating until it’s not fake, bad guys, good friends and a very quick read. I really enjoyed this one 🤍⭐️

Brief synopsis: The Love Hypothesis follows the main character Olive in trying to convince her best friend, Anh into thinking that her dating life is going great. In order to convince Anh, she pretends to date her professor, Adam. Olive and Adam try to convince everyone around them they are in love.
⭐️⭐️⭐️

CREEEEEEPPPYYYYYY. OMG. I actually had to stop reading it before bed. Her books are soo good, easy to read, great thrillers but sheesh creepy!!

Brief summary: Rose's novel follows Grace, a NYC banker who comes to Dubois, Wyoming on a literal whim for her vacation, and Calvin, a country boy who operates a ranch and rents it out via Airbnb. Pluck a city girl and stick her in the country with a mysterious country boy, and that's the mystery premise.
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another hallmark movie in book form. If you’re wanting to read Christmas vibes with (very little) romance and just a sweet Christmas story, this is it. Plus her books are very short and easy to read.

Brief summary: In the weeks leading into Christmas, Kerry quickly becomes close with the charming neighbors who live near their stand. When an elderly neighbor goes missing, Kerry will need to combine her country know-how with her newly acquired New York knowledge to protect the new friends she's come to think of as family.
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wanna READ a hallmark movie? Then this is it. It’s a veryyyy short book (I read it in two sittings) and is very sweet. Very little romance (think hallmark like romance) and a cute Christmas story 🎄❤️🎅🏼

Brief summary: After her divorce, Ivy moves from Atlanta to a small town At the top of a closet, Ivy finds an old Santa suit―beautifully made and decades old. In the pocket of a suit she finds a note written in a childish hand: it's from a little girl who has one Christmas wish, and that is for her father to return home from the war. This discovery sets Ivy off on a mission.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

By the end of this book I cried, laughed and actually missed the characters when I was done. It was a little slow to start but then I couldn’t put it down. Ashley is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

Brief summary: A romance ghostwriter who's lost her motivation after a breakup is haunted by the spirit of her newly departed editor in this whimsical paranormal romance. Florence Day doesn't believe in love or happily-ever-afters any longer.
Happy Halloween 🎃 from me and one of my favorite thriller authors!

Who’s your favorite thriller author?
Just finished ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

Creepy, great twists and turns and kept me reaching for it until it was over. Has short(ish) chapters which you know is huge for me! And it literally had twists and turns until the last page. But guys, it is creepy!

Have you read this one?
A sweet little romance that reads fast and leaves you loving the characters 🤍
