We’ve been having a hard time getting our baby to fall asleep in her bassinet. We introduced this high-contrast musical mobile (plays decent more classical type songs, not that tinny garbage some other mobile boxes play) and she was captivated! Suddenly she would lay there without crying and eventually drift off. It’s not fool-proof because you do still have to make sure all her other needs are fully squared away first, but it’s progress and I’ll take it.

We tried several different brands of pacifiers, including the Dr. Brown’s HappyPaci, which was the front runner until we tried these! Once we introduced them, our baby stopped wanting the other ones. I won’t promise you that your baby will never spit it out, but I can say that you will have to put it back a LOT less!

We were generally well-prepared for our baby, but we did think we had a couple more weeks to finalize everything before she arrived! We also had only bought a pack of white short-sleeve newborn onesies since we didn’t know how big she would be. Turned out she was too small even for those and needed extra help staying warm, despite the fact that we live in Texas.

We bought both Pampers and Huggies preemie diapers, but I think I liked the Pampers ones just a little bit more.

I got this nail kit because her nails were already growing and she kept scratching her face. In hindsight, I should’ve gone straight to the electric nail file because she did not hold still for me to clip them

I saw someone post on social media somewhere that having a high contrast phone case can help attract your baby’s attention so you get better photos of them actually looking at it. (Sorry to whoever it was, I can’t recall.) But I can confirm it works! This is the one that I got (and separate pop-socket to coordinate!) and I’ve linked some other similar options in my LTK

Here are the things I packed for the hospital or wish I had brought with me! The Boppy is 100x easier to nurse with than hospital pillows! Also, a second labor gown would have been helpful because my baby peed on mine as soon as they gave her to me 😝
