What’s an item in your closet that you’re still reaching for a decade later?

For me, it’s these Charlotte Olympia kitty flats, that I coveted for *months* before finally biting the bullet, placing a phone order three months ahead of a trip which included a stopover in London so I could save on the taxes and duties 🤭 I wore that original pair 600+ times; despite their slightly off beat character, they became something of a staple for me. So much so that my husband eventually bought me a second pair to replace the (then falling apart) original ones 😸

What’s interesting is that these became something of a trend piece at the time as Alexa Chung wore them two (?) weeks after they landed on the NAP website, and they were almost impossible to get your hands on. Despite this, for me they were an item that I saw as synonymous with my own style and tastes - which is why even a decade on I still adore them just as much. Which is basically to say, don’t let whether something is on-trend (or not) dictate how often or whether you are still wearing something. Wear the skinny jeans. No, you don’t need to replace your Samba’s ❤️ Sometimes a renewed perspective is all you need 🫶🏼

Consider this your reminder to repeat outfits that you *love* 🥰

Well before the days of social media, I used to challenge myself to try to create new pairings each time I wore a much loved piece. Basically, I was stopping myself from outfit repeating because I craved the thrill of putting together a look which felt unexpected or “new”. And this was a great muscle to flex, because the more tuned into your wardrobe you become, the more you’ll be able to remix and restyle items in interesting ways.

But, there’s something to be said for having a formula or recipe that you lean in on. Or, just wearing the outfit again and again. Because if you felt good in an outfit the first time you wore it, you’re going to experience that same feeling the second, third, fourth, fifth time and so on.

And if you’re up for a bit of analysis and want to replicate that *good* feeling while wearing something different, try to pinpoint what elements that you LOVE about the outfit. Is it the textures? Mix of colours? The way you’ve created proportions and shape? Because you can take inspiration from this, while using completely different items from your closet - it’s the perfect way to fine tune your style recipe 👏🏻

My “go-to” outfit which I’ll happily repeat day in and day out is a simple tee, great pair of jeans, relaxed blazer and cute shoes. What’s yours? ❤️
