Our goal when we do Discovery Days is to show you a variety of clothing -- some of which is ideal for me and to be quite transparent -- things I wouldn't have chosen.

This dress is one of those items. I love the colors, but I'm not a big floral fan. This is a large scale print on me, and I love the delicate scalloped detail around the top and straps.

The best part? That seam hits beautifully at my waistline and it's a gorgeous example of a fitted top & flared bottom.

This dress was more of a gamble on me. Would the babydoll cut be flattering? How would the seam be that sits right under my chest?

Overall, I didn't dislike this dress, but I would have preferred there be no pleating. I do not like dresses that make me feel like I'm pregnant. TIP: wearing flowier clothes can make you appear larger than you are. Don't swamp yourself to hide; honor your body and learn where to explore fit & flow.

For a week after we went to Reformation, there was one dress I showed every single client of mine that rated well in true red.

THIS ONE.

I kept thinking about it. I was frustrated I didn't buy it. I loaded up Dutch & Dustyn after a run the following Sunday and we went back to SoCo so I could try it on again. She came home with me. I need to tailor her a bit, but when I do, she'll be PERFECTION. I love, love, love this dress!

Dutch & I feel it's important to share something about my body that you can't usually see when facing me. I have almost a 50 degree scoliosis curve so even when things look pretty from the front, I struggle with how they wear on me from the back. My back is one of my greatest insecurities.

Notice how the zipper isn't straight up and down, as it should be. It curves, my shoulders are tilted (yes, exaggerated because of how I'm standing), and if you look really closely, you can even see the curve of my spine.

This dress is a dream and a delight from the front.

HOWEVER
...
Because of my spine, I would spend a large majority of time constantly adjusting the straps on one side because it does not fit appropriately, and if I saw a photo of myself from the back where I hadn't adjusted the seam to be as correct as can be, I would feel really defeated.
...
I did not purchase this dress. I do not need to purchase something that will cause that kind of internal battle.

My exact sparkly sandals are from last year, but I’ve found some other options that would work well for the cool seasons in silver to add a little bit of interest to this simple dress!

The platform sandal looks warm on the website, but is similar to a mushroom color in person.

I linked a similar sneaker; the back looks like the perfect gray blue for summers, but I would swap out the shoe strings!
