I finally found a DIY I never want to do again… 😅 
Grouting looked so fun in every video, but let me tell you—it was messy, exhausting, and way harder than I thought. 
I used a premixed sanded grout I found on clearance (because frugal, obviously), and tried every method from grout floats to just slapping it on with my hands. 
The wipe-down part? Brutal. And no, I didn’t protect the countertops. Classic me. 
But it’s DONE and I’m so close to wrapping up this kitchen makeover! Switch plates and decorating are next…

I rented a tile saw from Home Depot and knocked out all the cuts for our kitchen backsplash in one day! 🙌

If you’re thinking about tackling a tile project but nervous about the tools…don’t be! Renting from the tool center was SO easy (and only $39 for 24 hours 💸).

Here are a few tips if you’re a first-timer using a wet tile saw:
🔹 Ask the rental desk to help you pick the right saw. 🔹 Set up outside or in the garage, it gets very wet. 🔹 Wear goggles and go slow, let the blade do the work. 🔹 Keep a towel or rag nearby to wipe tiles between cuts. 🔹 And my favorite tip… give yourself a deadline! The 24-hour rental was the perfect time crunch to stay focused and get it done.

Now I’m ready to grout and finally get my kitchen back in working order.

I’m going to go through my receipts and let you know the cost so far, and my tentative backsplash plans.

I also haven’t lined the drawers with the wallpaper yet, I kind of want to use the roll I have to start the breakfast nook wall, but I should probably take a couple weeks off to catch up on laundry and life 🤪🤪🤪.

Demo day! Major progress happening in the kitchen today! I’m removing the crown molding from the cabinets, it’s just way too overwhelming and I’m hoping I will be able to clean the tops way easier, although I still plan to extend the cabinets up as well, so we will see when that happens!

I was already dreading this task because my attention span is not one which does well with mundane tasks like installing a million drawer slides, but I was excited to get my drawers and countertops back…..unfortunately it did not go as planned.

Painting kitchen cabinet hardware with Rub N Buff for a budget friendly upgrade!

I’ll go into this more in the next video, but I NEED to replace my drawer slides and it’s not going to be cheap…so the knobs and hinges might just have to be reused for now.

Especially since I’m wanting to do some “unnecessary” upgrades like wallpaper in the drawers.

I’m a whole hearted believer that you can get everything you want for your home….just not at the same time 😅😅😅 So fancy knobs and handles just might have to wait for now.

I think these knobs look very pretty with a coat of Rub N Buff, but I’m just not sure how they will hold up over time. Stay tuned 👀👀👀

Just over here procrastinating and not finishing my drawers while I make little design mockups in Canva. 🙃🙃🙃
Trying to work with what we already have as much as possible.
I took a picture of our floors, and the table and chairs were a Facebook Marketplace find that we got when we moved in.
I want to replace the light fixture with something rattan, and I love this scalloped one!
The top cabinets will be white and you’ve seen me working on the blue bottom cabinets.
I think I’m going to do the dark version of the wallpaper inside the drawers and I was thinking also on our breakfast nook area, but seeing this I kind of like the light wallpaper now.
What do you think?!

I’m planning on lining the drawers with the darker option of this Rifle Paper Co. wallpaper and I’m considering using it on the walls of the adjacent breakfast nook as well. I like the light option too for the walls. I have some time to think about it, but I think either one is going to look AWESOME with the French Colony blue! 💙💙💙

Cabinet knobs I’m considering for the kitchen! I love the handle, but the knobs are making it hard to decide. I’m leaning toward the top one because it’s simple, but I really like the floral one, the 3rd knob option is too small in my opinion. But I love the color!

I ended up selecting Behr French Colony, I think it’s going to look so good with gold hardware.
