Nine Month Contract: 4.5 ⭐️

I didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did - it had a very unique plot and was my first time reading about a surrogate and the intended parent. The chemistry and banter between Wyatt and Trista started right away, and it was great to watch it develop. The story is definitely a slow burn, but the building chemistry made the romance even better. I also loved the size inclusivity representation. Trista is a curvy FMC, who, while a strong character, has body insecurities, which made her more relatable. It was great to watch her grow as a character in a realistic way. What I loved most had to be the strong family dynamic. The Fletchers are a family unit and love and care for each other immensely - it was sweet to see that and see how they immediately welcome Trista into the family while hardly knowing her.

I had such a good time with this one and I highly recommend it. I have already purchased book 2 and pre-ordered book 3. I feel like this series is going to get better and better with each story.

Darling Girls is a domestic suspense about a maniacal foster mother, three sisters’ strong bond, a discovered body, and a return to the past whether the main characters like it or not. This book will have you wondering: Does the past ever truly stay buried?

If you want to read a book about three badass women who face not only their past but their current problems and are bonded even more because of it, this book is for you. Hepworth tells the story by switching between the three sister’s POVs and switching between past and present with notes from a psychiatrist. I absolutely loved the way she did this because it really helped with character develop development and allows the reader to connect with each character even more. Darling Girls is a much slower- paced thriller than what I’m used to reading (someone called it “a slow burn suspense”), but the twist at the end make the slower pace worth it in my opinion. This was my first book by Sally Hepworth, and I cannot wait to pick up another one!

The Silent Patient took a long time for me to get into it but once I was, I couldn’t put the book down. It was full of twists and turns, questioning every character you met. I was so intrigued into Alicia as a human, trying to figure her out as much as Theo was. This book has you asking yourself “why?” repeatedly as you read. I also loved Alicia’s POV; it’s spoken through her diary and her art since she refuses to speak, and I feel that it spoke volumes compared to what she would have said if she was talking. Where the book fell short is that I didn’t feel it fully explained why Alicia was silent and why Theo wanted her to talk – she’s the silent patient, but to me, there was a missed opportunity to explain that part of the story more. With that said, it didn’t stop me from giving The Silent Patient 5 stars.

Recommend? ✨ For all the hype this book had on Bookstagram, BookTok, and everywhere else, I’m surprised that I didn’t pick it up sooner but I’m happy I eventually did. While the first half of the book was slow for me, I couldn’t stop turning the pages and reading. The twists and turns and omission of information really made the book for me. As someone who regularly reads thrillers, the ending was fresh and not like something I’ve read in other thrillers, which I quite enjoyed.
