The under-counter curtain came longer than I needed so I hemmed it and kept the bottom piece just in case. Today I used that piece to create a little valance and I love it! All I did was fold the piece over the top of the curtain and secure with the curtain clips.

I have never regretted, nor will I ever regret, doing a custom tiled range hood. After leaving my beloved herringbone backsplash behind when we moved, and feeling not so into these old cabinets (admittedly made better once I painted them), I knew that the @fireclaytile handmade brick needed to be the star of this kitchen. The constant in our current kitchen and the old one? @fireclaytile handmade brick. I was legit sad to leave the herringbone behind but knew that it just wouldn’t translate in the new kitchen. To soften the blow, I decided to tile this niche both for visual impact & to get the elevated, old world, café vibe I was going for. Best decision by far. What kitchen do you like best?!

Things I love about this view…👇🏻

The veining in our soapstone counters.

The sunlight. ✨

The styled but not perfectly put-together coffee & wine setup. I can remember just a couple years ago feeling like I needed to move all those wine bottles and regular coffee maker out of the way for pictures because they aren’t as “pretty”. Do I still straighten up a bit before shooting? Of course but this is our everyday setup and it’s real.

I know I shared a similar view Reel yesterday showing off the new runner but thought I’d give a kitchen update today!

01. All that’s left to paint is the island and a few side panels…a long process for a variety of reasons but I LOVE the tonal color with the @fireclaytile handmade brick.
02. The @linagordievskyart piece found a home in a thrifted frame with linen mat and it’s perfect on that wall.
03. I’m thinking of swapping out the striped curtain for a floral block print to add a little more visual interest.
04. Zoom in to see the vintage candle sconce I added under the vent hood (its mate isn’t visible here).
05. Still contemplating new island pendants…perhaps with some brass.
06. Planning to add the same decorative metal screen that’s on our built-in to the door of the drink fridge!
07. While I’ve loved the idea of the arched cabinet we use as a pantry, it’s not quite big enough nor is it tall enough. The plan is to get something made to go floor to ceiling & butt up right to the tile edge.

Finally, I considered filling & drilling some holes to use pulls on some drawers. I don’t necessarily love that every single cabinet & drawer has a knob only but I’m embracing them at this point. When the time comes to renovate the kitchen, I’ll get the cabinets & hardware I want….

Phew! Can’t wait to finish up and share the “new” kitchen soon! How do you think it’s all looking?!

The other night the vintage mirror I had up (swipe) fell. It didn’t break thankfully but I took it as a sign to make the smallest of changes and replaced it with a smaller vintage silhouette and tiny frame. And I just love it! Moral of the story? Embrace accidents…

I did a thing…can you tell what it is?!

If you’ve been watching stories, you know that I painted the window trim. And. I. Am. In. Love. I went with @farrowandball Stony Ground and it’s neutral, subtle, and adds so much warmth in here. The slider trim is also painted and the soon-to-arrive radiator cover will also be the same color! Still planning to add crown and ceiling treatment but this one (easy + affordable) touch really brings things together, yes?! #farmhousedialfano
