Old homes are charming, aren’t they? Until it’s -8 and your poorly insulated house with an inefficient-heating-system & old windows can’t keep up so it’s 52 downstairs. But in all seriousness (cuz you know I love old houses), our neighborhood was without power for 17 hours and the full house generator the previous owner put in is worth every extra penny we had to spend to meet an offer when we bought the house 😂

It’s still 10 degrees out so curtains remain drawn, hot chocolate (and eventually wine) will be flowing, and I’ve moved “sign off on the Mass Save insulation quote” to the top of our priority list. Stay warm everyone! #farmhousedialfano #mstarrdesign

✨ The sun is out so that’s nice.
✨ I’m getting questions about our window shades and I haven’t discussed because they’re changing + I’ll share more soon but know that the color/fabric/mounting you see here is not staying.
✨ I have an idea for making that back dining wall more interesting and involved headboard or paneling, chair rail and paint.

This view is a mix of good + bad for me. The previous owner added a half bath downstairs (100% needed) but it cut into the big room. Hence why you see the black cabinet where it is. And while I love love love this cabinet from the old house, it’s just not working here. I’ve tried!! It’s too dark and the top moulding is out of place. And this is OK, sometimes we need to live with something before knowing if it’s right or wrong…. #farmhousedialfano

I took this the last time it wasn’t raining…the day after Christmas (hence the dishes).
