This space was meant to be the formal dining room, but we don’t need that because we’ve got plenty of space at the dining area off the kitchen. We get way more bang for our buck using this space as a playroom - it keeps the toys from taking over our living room, and is located right next door so we can easily keep an eye on the kids while we enjoy a glass of wine on the sofa.

Modular shelving from ikea gives us tons of storage and an easy DIY upgrade with rattan handles takes them up a level and helps them integrate with our homes decor. When I can, I choose toys in a similar color palette and with wood accents, doing this helps create a cohesive look even with the chaos of all the toys. of course we have plenty of things that don’t look this way, but I just don’t keep those ones out on “display” if I can help it. 🤪

@houseofnoa has the most stylish playmats that give the look of a rug, but the safety and comfort a playmat provides. And @gathre has the BEST play things in color palettes that won’t cramp your style.

✨MHMH Home Tour Series✨ Space #4 … the multi-functional office/guest room!

This room isn’t fully designed yet, but it still packs a punch in functionality. It serves double duty as my office AND transforms into a cozy guestroom when visitors arrive. 💻🛌✨

Hidden features make this space work: a pullout sleeper couch, hidden hanging storage, a luggage rack, and an amenities cart. These elements turn a chic home office into a comfortable guest retreat, giving guests a personal hotel suite experience, andmaking their stay feel like a mini vacation (except when they babysit for me). 😜

✨MHMH Home Tour Series✨ Space 5 is … my son’s nursery!

I first designed this space at our old home, and when we moved other areas of the house were a bigger priority - the bad news, I never did the details like board and batten and wallpaper, the good news is it didn’t really matter. Those details can take your space to the next level, but you can still create a beautiful space without it.

I kept a neutral palette because I figure I’ll have color in here the rest of his life 😝 so to make things feel more kid-like, I incorporated lots of pattern, shapes, and texture. I picked pieces that can grow with him, like the expanding crib and dresser that he can always use, and a smart place to stash toys and blankets in the storage ottoman and storage bench.

✨MHMH Home Tour Series✨ Space #3 … the living room!

The living room is the heart of the home 🖤 and especially when you’ve got kids in the house! We eat, play, cuddle, nap in here so it’s gotta be able to look good and be durable to hold up to all the time spent here. I designed our living room to look chic, but maintain a relaxed and family-friendly vibe.

A large sectional in a high performance fabric means it cleans up easily and provides plenty of seating and snuggling space. Round coffee tables protect kids from sharp corners, and this set does quadruple duty - not just a coffee table, the small nesting table doubles as a kid size table, there’s space for toys underneath, and the large table makes an awesome fort.

I pump up the designer vibes in the lesser used spaces, with chicly styled shelving, console, and a cozy corner seating moment.

And that beautiful art over the fireplace? That’s our TV - The Frame TV from Samsung. This is a MUST HAVE. There is nothing stylish about a giant black box. Not only can you display any artwork on this, but you can get frames to match your decor - we have a light wood frame, duh 💁🏼‍♀️

✨MHMH Home Tour Series✨ Space #2 … our kitchen 🤩

When we moved in, this kitchen came with dark green counters, white cabinets from floor to ceiling, cheap mod silver hardware, and no pantry. There was also a wall separating it from our dining room, which made that space more “formal”, but it also meant we literally NEVER used it. Not once. We broke down that wall and it changed the entire vibe of our house - it feels bigger even though we technically have “less” storage, the natural light comes into the rest of the house, and even though we have less cabinets, we have more storage because it all works better.

Now, I have my dream kitchen! And with some thoughtful design and inventive features, it both looks beautiful and has plenty of storage, even without upper cabinets. And yes, they are easy to style and keep looking beautiful!

✨MHMH Home Tour Series✨ Space #1 is here!

In honor of the beautiful weekend weather we are having here, I’m starting outdoors. Creating inviting and comfortable spaces outdoors is key to making the most of our homes. I think of my home as my own little resort, and with this setup, it certainly feels that way!

Our “sun couch” is my favorite place to hang - it’s just two seats and two ottomans from our modular sectional pushed together. I love a modular sectional because then we can change things up!
