Books I’ve read recently 📚

Just finished Magnolia Parks Into The Dark! This book was so good y’all. It was an emotional read, it deals with a lot of grief and trauma but the story is beautiful. I’m caught up with this series and I’m really hoping there’s more to come! I need Daisy Haites book characters’ perspective on everything that happened in this book!

Just finished another book by Jessa Hastings! The Long Way Home is by far the most emotional of the series thus far, and it makes me so nervous for what’s to come. This book was completely frustrating & heartbreaking but so good. I love the main characters BJ & Magnolia even if their story is insane. But the whole box set, all the side characters, I love them. Theres not a character in these book I don’t like to read about. So much fun to read but this one hurt. 4/5

I loved unboxing this Blind Date w/a Book from the TikTok shop. As we all know TikTok is no longer available so I’m tagging a couple of cute Etsy options! Buy honestly there are so many other great options there, click the link & explore! This would be a great gift for a book lover or even a little treat yourself moment.

Just finished Daisy Haites The Great Undoing by Jessa Hastings! & omg what a book. I think I might be in love with gang lord now?? This book gives Daisy, Christian & Julian’s perspectives of the events of Magnolia Parks A Long Way Home. Great book, I’m so obsessed with this series. I love the characters as toxic & as crazy as they all are. 4/5

Recently finished The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley! This is the third book I’ve read by the author & it was enjoyable. Her mysteries all have a similar style that I enjoy. Basically a “whodunnit?” across multiple perspectives piecing together one event as well as past events & it just makes it fun because you feel like you’re solving multiple mysteries at once. This book revolves around an upscale wellness retreat’s sabotaged opening weekend! 3/5

Just finished The Women by Kristin Hannah. My first read of the new year & this book was incredible. I’m not typically someone that reaches for historical fiction but I kept hearing about this novel. The story follows a nurse before, after & during the Vietnam war. The writing was captivating, the story is tragic and heroic, overall a great image of what life must have been like for the women of the Vietnam war. They were there. 4/10

Just finished Daisy Haites, the second book in the Magnolia Parks Universe! I enjoyed this book, it had all the familiar drama & toxicity of Magnolia Parks but an added layer with Daisy’s family ties to a London crime empire! This book kept me invested as its events are happening parallel to the first book, Magnolia Parks. So it kind of unraveled a new story behind what I’d previously read. My one complaint is the ending, it left me wanting more information. Granted, it’s a series, so I’ll just have to keep reading, which I intended to do anyway! 3/5

Just finished this holiday romance book by Meghan Quinn. The writing was so cute & clever in this, I loved the poems & the narration. This was a fun enemies to lovers, grinchy/sunshine(maybe not perfectly sunshine), fake dating story. The lead up to romance takes a while but it’s funny because the main characters are in Christmas competition, it kept me entertained. Overall really cute, silly Christmasy romance.

Just finished the Under The Mistletoe Series! 🎧 Amazon put out 5 holiday themed stand alone short stories by 5 different authors; Ali Hazelwood, Tessa Bailey, Olivia Dade, Alexandria Bellefleur & Alexis Daria. These were all fun romance reads, they were cute & quick & extra spicy. My favorite of the 5 stories was Cruel Winter With You by Ali Hazelwood. My least favorite was Merry Ever After by Tessa Bailey. They were all cute in their own ways but, be prepared for some cringe. Overall I enjoyed the series!

Just finished Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score! This book was pretty cute. I thought this was just going to be a cutie little small town romance, but we actually got a little drama/action. This was a classic grumpy/sunshine trope & a smidge of fake dating & I’d also consider it found family. Not a true spoiler but something about the layout of this story is giving Twilight (without the mythical creatures of course). There was a storyline that almost completely lost my attention, and the tie up of that storyline was a little out of place for me, it involved some action that I just wasn’t expecting so I threw me off. I’m also more of a romance girly. So that’s why this book lost some stars. I would have rather the build up of the action been a bit more prominent or keep it a cute romance and tone the action story line down & tie it up sooner. Also tagged a cute special edition!!

Just finished reading my October Book Club Book, The Guest List by Lucy Foley! 🎧

So excited that my friend started a book club, and even more excited with this read! It was so good compared to my last Lucy Foley read. I was hooked, solid mystery, loved the way all the pieces came together. To set the scene it’s a wedding on a private island and a body has been found but who is it? You will follow multiple POVs to uncover the mystery. It’s a fun “whodunit?” & the extra mystery of the unknown victim was great! 4/5

Just finished The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden! Significantly cheaper on Amazon.

#LTKHome #LTKTravel
Just finished As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson! This book was so now what I expected. I was really surprised by the darker themes that were explored and I personally feel like the author took a pretty big risk because there was a point where I was bothered thinking to myself “no way”…but if you really wrap your mind around it. It makes sense. The whole series is definitely worth a read!! 4/5

#LTKTravel #LTKHome
I finished another Frieda McFadden book today! I can see why all my coworkers are hyping this author up. Easy reads with great twists. I loved reading how this stories layers tied together in the end, I had some surprisingly close predictions but still the reveal was exciting! 3/5

#LTKHome #LTKTravel
Recently finished Your Truly by Abby Jimenez. This is another book from the same universe as Part of Your World. It’s a cute slow burn situation that involves fake dating! It’s cute and fun & I’d say I liked this book better than the first one. I do feel like maybe it burned too slow for me or the miscommunication went on for too long. I did love that the topic of anxiety is discussed throughout. Cute story! 3/5

#LTKTravel #LTKHome
Just finished The Teacher by Frieda McFadden! This was my second time reading this author and it’s clear Frieda knows how to write a good twist! The twists in this book really got me. This was a quick and easy read. I enjoyed the suspense! 3/5

#LTKTravel #LTKHome
I recently finished We Were Never Here by Andrea Bartz on a road trip.🎧 I was drawn to it because it was a Reese’s Book Club pick & the audiobook is read by Becca Tobin from Glee! It’s thriller about two best friends who vacation together each summer, this summer trip is killer…and it isn’t the first time. The story started off intriguing and had a lot of potential to be such a thrill. Unfortunately, something was just off for me. I think the way it ends throws me off and I’m left confused with how to feel. Dont get me wrong it was good, but something felt off. Read it and see what you think? 2/5
Recently finished How To Solve Your Own Murder by Kristen Perrin this one was in the running for Jimmy Fallon’s Book Club and I was really drawn in by the cover. This is a classic murder mystery and I think it’s a good story. There were some things that threw me off and I’m not sure if it’s just me but it felt like the characters ages weren’t clear. The way the main character is written made her feel teenagerish but she was 20-30 and then one of her rivals is like at least 70 years old but is trying to inherit an estate when he’s barely going to get to enjoy it before he dies too?? lol idk something about that was a little off. But again it was fun piecing it all together even though I didn’t guess right! 3/5

Just finished Ready or Not by Cara Bastone. I wanted to read this book because the cover is stunning, then I read the back and I almost didn’t pick it up. This book is a romance involving an unplanned pregnancy. I’ve struggled with fertility and I really wasn’t sure this would be an easy read for me but I was so pleasantly surprised. It was sweet and funny and the love story is just comfortable and right idk how else to explain it. I was also so appreciative that it touched on the topic of infertility as there was a character struggling to conceive while also trying to be supportive of the main character’s pregnancy. I would love to read future Willa’s story, as a matter of fact I’d read the stories of many characters in this book. Ethan in the future? Shep in the past? Yep I loved this book! 5/5

#LTKHome #LTKTravel
I loved reading Funny Story by Emily Henry. This book is so good! A fake dating/close proximity/opposites attract love story. I loved this. Funny, cute and steamy but there’s more to it as well, like exploring insecurities and tough family relationships. Emily Henry never misses. 5/5

#LTKTravel #LTKHome
I previously finished Love & Other Words by author duo Christina Lauren & I’m just getting around to sharing it! I really enjoyed this book, a beautiful friends to lovers/second chance romance. I was absolutely shocked with what happened in their past, I really thought I had it all figured out & I was way off!! There’s one thing I don’t like about this book but I believe the authors tried to make up for it with the special edition pages called “Our Love in Words” from the MMC’s perspective. I’m giving it a 4/5

#LTKTravel #LTKHome
Just finished this one from
Reese's book club!
I see it has some mixed reviews, but I adored it. This was the author's debut! It was emotional, sweet and so spicy. I really enjoyed this read & I'm obsessed with the main characters love. I will definitely read more from Yulin Kuang in the future!
4/5

Finished this yesterday
I added it to my tbr after Jimmy Fallon chose it for his book club🎧

Good book. It starts in the middle of a very suspenseful situation so 1 was into it immediately! There were some slower parts, and it was easy for me to figure out but I think overall the story was good.
As a woman it was also absolutely infuriating!
3/5

Just finished Beach Read by Emily Henry.
I adored this book! It was not what I expected, I was thinking light hearted easy breezy summer romance but this was emotional and beautiful and it explores more than just romance, but the complexities of life, grief & happiness. This story is about two polar opposite authors who make a deal to try to learn a little about each other’s craft to help them through writer’s block.

Opposites attract. Grumpy/sunshine. Summer romance. Forced proximity. Enemies to lovers. Second chance romance. 5/5

Just finished A Court Of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas! Listen I asked for more spice & I got it! 🌶️ Goodness!! So this book switched to Nesta & Cassian’s perspective & also it’s now written in 3rd person. Which is fine but it was just surprising to me considering the whole series up to this point was completely different. I personally think it was interesting to see some of the characters in a new light, I just think I grew to prefer Feyre’s perspective, so this story didn’t impact me as much as some of the other books. I will say I loved Nesta’s character arc & the enemies to lovers, slow burn situation, it also gets major spice points from me! 3/5

#LTKGiftGuide #LTKHome #LTKTravel
Just finished Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson. It was SO good. This book is the sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder so if you haven’t read that then you must!! These books are YA but they aren’t just lighthearted little mysteries I mean just absolute page turners! I love! Basically this story picks up with Pip sort of putting her detective days behind her after the wild ride she’d put herself and loved ones through in the previous book. But when a family friend goes missing, and the police can’t do anything about it, she feels that familiar pull and when Pippa Fitz-Amobi is on the case she does not quit! Great Book! 4/5

#LTKHome #LTKTravel #LTKGiftGuide
Just finished Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez! This was a cute book. A sweet opposites attract romance with dual pov’s. Alexis is a doctor carrying on a 125 year family legacy and Daniel is a mayor/bed & breakfast owner in a teeny tiny town. It took me some time to get invested in this story but ultimately I ended up enjoying it. Very sweet, and I like that it touched on other life topics. I wish there were more steamy moments but the heartfelt moments made up for it!
3/5

Just finished A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas 🎧 tell me why this was my favorite book of the series?? lol maybe not my true favorite but I liked it a lot! This just goes to show that action/fantasy is not my preferred genre. ACOFAS is more romantic. It’s just a sweet little story. I enjoyed getting to see Feyra and the crew just living and finding little joys. (Except for Nesta, she is not happy?? Yikes) also the spice in this book was imo better than the others. Overall 4/5

I’ve been reading so much lately, that I find myself thinking about books all the time now. So I had to make a cute little aesthetic collage of The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo! This book was an instant favorite for me, I rated it a 5 out 5! Great gift for any readers you know! #CapCut #evelynhugo #thesevenhusbandsofevelynhugo

Just read Book Lovers by Emily Henry 🤍The story follows the pov of Nora, a literary agent from NYC, who gets more or less forced into trip to Sunshine Falls, a small town in North Carolina, with her sister Libby. Libby desperately wants Nora to take a break from work and city life and seems very invested in this trip. Quickly after they arrive Nora runs into Charlie, a book editor from NYC, whom she is not particularly fond of. I will leave it at that to avoid spoilers. You’ll have to read to see what happens to these 3 on their trip away from NYC. Now for my thoughts; The romance was romancing and I was eating it up.😍 the characters are easy to connect with as I’ve learned with all my Emily Henry reads so far the banter is amazing! I do think it’s worth mentioning that there’s a lot of hallmark qualities in this book. But, I think the author leans into those tropes intentionally and it makes for a very cute story. There were a couple of things that I didn’t love; a loose end and something about a character that I found annoying, if you’ve read it let me know and I’ll tell you! lol Overall this book was really cute and I enjoyed reading it! 4/5

Another book from the ACOTAR Series complete. Just finished A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas🎧 This book made me rethink all my thoughts thus far. I’d like to revoke my 3.5/5 rating for ACOTAR & instead give at a 2.5. I just feel like I gave it too much credit in hopes that the rest of the series would play out a certain way. It basically feels like an unnecessary piece to the story now because not much came from it. I personally would rate ACOWAR equal to or slightly less than ACOMAF, which I rated 4/5. I like them all for different reasons. Book 1 my favorite part was Amarantha. She was a great villain and I enjoyed the trials & how it was not an easy win for the good guys. Book 2 may favorite part was Rhysand because duh.😍 Now to book 3!! Firstly I think this book was good for fans of the side characters. (That’s me) Feyra was quite literally on the sidelines for part of this book, so we got to see the side characters shine. Aside from that I enjoyed that this book was well rounded. There were tears, high stakes action, drama like Tamlin vs Rhysand exchanges (I wish there were more of these throughout the series) & there was some great romance/spicy moments. (But SJM why can’t you give us more???) overall pretty good book. I rate this book 3.5/5. If there was a smidge more romance it would be a 4.

Just finished reading Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings & omg this book y’all. I’m obsessed. Written in the dual perspectives of Magnolia “parks” Parks & BJ Bellentine who are high society London socialites. They were in love once, maybe they always will be, but should they be together?? The best way I can describe it is like if Gossip Girl was written mainly about Chuck & Blair and set in London. Love, toxicity, drama. It’s fun & that last page really threw me for a loop! OMG! 4/5

#LTKhome #LTKGiftGuide #LTKtravel
Just finished reading People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry! I loved this book. A classic (I’d say slow burn) romance told through dual timelines following the main character’s annual summer trips. I will say I wanted to take Poppy by the shoulders & shake her a few times but I still loved her. This is my second Emily Henry novel & she is hilarious like I audibly laugh at some of the stuff the characters say. 5/5 recommend. Is this my new favorite author? 👀

#LTKhome #LTKGiftGuide #LTKtravel
Happy Place by Emily Henry was another 5 out 5 book for me!! So I had to make another aesthetic collage. Happy Place was so much a feel good book. Definitely worth a read & a great gift for your favorite reader this summer! 🤍

Just finished A Court of Mist & Fury by Sarah J. Maas🎧

This book was so much better than the first! I loved digging deeper into certain characters & I loved the new characters introduced in this book! I’m really intrigued about what will happen next & how our protagonist will figure out this new problem!! I still think there could have been more spice but it was definitely a step up from acotar. 4/5

#LTKhome #LTKGiftGuide #LTKtravel
Just finished another book!🎧 The It Girl by Ruth Ware was great. I actually had tried to read this a month or so ago but I just couldn’t focus, so this time I tried it on audio & I’m so glad I did! This book was great! I made an accusation early on about what I thought happened & I just love it when I’m wrong! 4/5
