Our projector has been a game changer. I really didn’t want a TV in our living room and having the short throw projector perched on this vintage trunk has been the perfect alternative.

Here’s what happened. On my birthday last week, I was scrolling through new listings (as I did every day for over seven months) and I saw an amazing place.
.
We had previously avoided this particular area, but this apartment made us reconsider. Anyone that lives in NYC knows how drastically areas can change block by block and even though this neighborhood is not far from where we are now, it is more industrial and less neighborhoody. Not bad, just not what we thought we wanted.
.
Looking at the listing last week, Jeff and I decided that it was just too good to pass up. We prepped an application before we went to the listing (it’s a TON of work, but the market here is so competitive that you have to be aggressive and ready to move FAST). We loved the apartment when we saw it on Saturday and immediately hit send on the application.
.
Fast-forward to today and we are approved! I am beyond excited to start this new chapter. Thanks to everyone that stuck with me during this transition period. And stay tuned for LOTS of new projects coming at you very soon.

Here’s a shot of my favorite project in our temporary apartment - the bedroom dresser/lighting/tapestry makeover! The epic lumbar from textile queen @anaberdesign completed the look perfectly. Don’t give up on design in transitional spaces 🖤

For new bedside lighting I simply bought a braided bulb cord and Edison bulb (all in about $20) and strung it on a plant hanger from my old apartment.

If anyone ever tells you that you can’t make a temporary space your own, it’s just not true! Focus on inexpensive pieces that you can take with you and repurpose wherever you go. All of these pieces will work in whatever apartment Jeff and I ultimately find.

Thanks to everyone for all of the dresser feedback! I settled on a dresser from @wayfair and here it is set up in our room. I haven’t assembled furniture in a LONG time and this was honestly a triumph for someone like me that isn’t handy at all. 😂

Happy Friday! My mom came to town recently and stayed in @1hotels in Brooklyn Bridge Park. This is the dreamy plant-filled lobby and the designers knocked this out of the park. It was such an inspiring design that I had to snap a photo (I almost always have my Fuji camera with me, because you never know).
