So excited that this piece is finished! 🎉 I found this armoire last month at our neighborhoods garage sale (for free!) and transformed it to fit our style. It’s a solid, very well built piece with doors & drawers that lock (which is everything these days with curious Danny 👶🏼 !). I wanted to lighten up the wood and give it a makeover. It’s a favorite to date and here are the steps we took to update the look :
- sanded the entire piece down to remove existing finish (thank you to my sister and husband for helping with this part too! It’s a large piece so this was the most time consuming part.).
- Removed all sawdust with a lint free cloth
- applyed Pre Stain wood conditioner on the wood. After it dried, i used a cloth rag to stain with the water-based wood stain (i did 2+ coats). You could use a foam brush for this step too but i lfelt i had more control and less mess over a rag
- The final step was using a high quality synthetic brush to apply the top coat with the polyurethane.

For now I styled it as a bar, but it may turn into a craft station for the girls too (we are all fighting over who gets it now!) Linking products used ✨

My go-to entertaining hack as of late has been to order a premade cheese board and then elevate it with my personal favorite things ✨ It has made things so much easier when life gets busy! Some favorite things to add are: gourmet flavored popcorn, spicy cheese option, jams with mini spoons, crackers made with edible flowers and chocolate desserts for something sweet✨

$I can’t believe we’re wrapping up August already! We’re quickly getting back into the swing of things and thought I’d share some of my back to school tips that have helped us 💙 🌟 Having a morning routine checklist (I don’t know how I would get 4 kids out the door without this 😅) 🌟 Stocking up on lots of healthy snacks, and always having an “emergency snack” on hand (in the car, purse) 🌟 Color coding our calendar (each person in our family of 6 has their own color. 🌈 #gamechanger ). We keep a weekly dry erase schedule with everything on our fridge so we don’t miss anything. This is the #1 thing that keeps me on track. 🌟 One on one time with kids, even during the busiest weeks. Make time to check in 🫶 🌟 Everyone has their own file on a wall organizer where all the non-urgent papers that come home go. I sort through the folders at least a couple times a week when I have time. It keeps me organized and everything in one place! 🌟 Adding extra Vitamin C 🍊 for back to school {IYKYK} 🌟 Having a separate email account for all school items & activities. 🌟 I try to do as much as I can the night before when possible. Pack the lunches, pick out the outfits (including shoes + socks!). Mornings always go smoother when we do prep the night before ~ PS. Anyone remember what this closet used to look like?
