This is the one of the few outfits I styled without a belt. Although you could totally wear this belt bag around your waist instead of around your chest! How to wear a ballerina dress outfit # 1. Everyday Ballet
I literally only added two accessories to dress things up: a belt I wish came in more colors and the comfiest ballet flats ever. They have zero support. So I wouldn’t recommend them for walking. But if you’re running from playdate to playdate like I’ve been these days, they’re perfect! They’re super easy to take on and off and feel like lightweight slippers.

How to wear denim shorts outfit # 1. Simply Classic
You can never go wrong with a white button-down and denim (jeans or shorts). I love wearing this crinkled shirt when I’m with my kiddo because I never have to worry about wrinkles. I wore this exact outfit, just with my lighter denim shorts, during a heatwave to a playdate dinner. I felt super comfy all afternoon and evening.
I also highly recommend investing in some type of flat cognac sandal if you don’t have one already. I wear mine all the time.

How to wear a shirt dress outfit 1. Wearing vs Styling
If you take a quick glance, I’m sure you’re thinking, aren’t you just wearing the dress as is with simple sandals? But if you look closer, you might notice the subtle styling. Still no? Ok, here’s what I did: I tied the belt to the side and unbuttoned a couple of buttons on bottom. I know it sounds like nothing, but trust me, it makes the world of difference. Instead of a bow, I did an asymmetrical loop, which I think makes the dress look more modern. And since I’m pear shaped, unbuttoning the bottom part of the dress gives room around the hip area for a more relaxed vibe.

How to wear a shirt dress outfit #3. Double Duty
One of the reasons I love this shirt dress is you can fully unbutton it (some don’t have that feature). Unbuttoned all the way it makes such a good coverup for beach vacations! I kept the belt on, that way I can tie it up quickly if I want to go from beach to lunch. Also, my hat is still 30% from July 4th. I have it in two colors. I’ve talked about it before but icymi: it’s packable, adjustable and a fedora-visor hybrid. So you can still wear it comfortably while lounging in the sun.

I headed up to LA for 24 hours to celebrate my nephews’ birthdays. Since I was staying with my high school bestie, it felt like the perfect time to revive my love for tube tops.

As a millennial mom, here’s how I’m updating one of my favorite 2000s trends:

The cargo pants were a wild card. I didn’t wear the trend much in high school, and I still wasn’t sure how I felt about them now that everything Y2K is back. But these are the comfiest jeans ever, perfect for long car rides and running around with the kids. Plus, the price is just right. So I didn’t have to worry about my toddler staining my cream #ootd.

How to wear denim shorts #3 :Mom on Duty
I’m actually wearing this outfit right now with a different graphic tee (I have a bunch of these $10 ones). It’s a combo I often throw on while I’m with my son. I previously talked about how draping a sweater/ sweatshirt/ cardigan over your shoulders instantly elevates causal outfits. That’s what I did here. And yes, I (mostly) retired my black on black LA hat for a Padres hat in honor of my new city.
If you’re looking for white sneakers, I’ve worn these for years. I just keep replacing them every other year or so when they get super dirty. They are so comfy and such a classic style.

How to wear denim shorts outfit # 5 : Tucked Out
I’m not usually a fan of leaving my tops tucked out. Being pear shaped, I generally like to show off my waist. I even did a whole video on Insta that was all about the waist. But I kind of liked having a wild card look as my final outfit last week. So I think I might stick to that and keep styling one look outside my comfort zone in these columns.
Since this shell is a thicker knit, I think it works tucked out, despite being more fitted. And I went back to my go-to styling of making the look more polished by draping some stripes over my shoulders.

How to wear denim shorts outfit # 2. Ladylike Contrast
To dress up my denim shorts, I added a cardigan with big gold buttons. I love the ladylike jacket trend but the boxy shape never works for my figure. I find the sweater/cardigan version to be more flattering since it drapes over the body.
I’ve been wearing these sandals all summer anytime I want to be comfy and casual, but a little bit taller (I’m 5’3 and a half).

Another way I like wearing button-downs with denim is as a lightweight jacket. Sometimes I wear them over a fitted tank tucked out…Sometimes I’ll tuck the unbuttoned shirt in the front and then blouse it over in the back to show off my waist. This tends to work best with oversize shirts. I’m not a bodysuit girl (I find them to be so uncomfortable!). But this $15 tank gives the look of one.

This is the combo I’ve been wearing for two summers now: lightweight linen shorts paired with a tank and an unbuttoned linen shirt as a jacket.

I love these shorts so much that I bought the exact same ones again in two colors after losing my baby weight. I also have the pants version. They’re super comfy, feel like you’re wearing nothing (perfect for a heatwave!), and are machine washable.

The last part was extra helpful when I took my son to go pet some bunnies. Luckily, his bunny shirt was machine washable too!

I finally got back into tennis this week! I played varsity in high school but didn’t keep up with it. It was so fun to be back on the court. And obviously, I had to prepare a versatile wardrobe. 😉

I created 5 sporty outfits using two tennis skirts and three collared shirts. I’m planning to wear them straight from the court to lunch with lightweight jackets and sweaters. They’d totally work for pickleball outfits too if that’s more your thing.
