Summer Nights, No More Mosquitos

This DIY concrete vessel is the perfect mix of modern design and functionality. I added citronella oil to the candle sand to help keep mosquitos away—so it’s not just pretty, it’s practical too. Use it indoors or out, and even paint it to match your space. Reusable, neutral, and so easy to make. A fun weekend DIY that looks high-end anywhere.

Here’s how to make your own:

FUN & EASY Concrete Candle Vessel
1. Prepare the Mold – Wrap a 2x3 or 2x4 board in a plastic garbage bag and tape the ends.
2. Cut and Drape Fabric – Measure and cut scrap fabric to cover the board and sides snugly.
3. Mix and Coat Concrete – Mix concrete, soak fabric fully.
4. Wrap and Smooth – Wrap fabric around the board, smooth with extra concrete, trim edges.
5. Dry and Reveal – Let dry 24–48 hrs. Remove mold, sand edges if needed.
6. It’s Candle Time – Add candle sand, wicks, and your fave scent (I used citronella to repel bugs!).
