Took some time away from antiquing to (FINALLY) finish up some details I started many months ago in the boys’ bathroom! Bathrooms are definitely a challenge to photograph, with no natural light source and the typical, tight floor plan, but after almost 20 years, WE HAVE KNOBS, FOLKS! A new light fixture and some fresh accessories really update the space! I went with a little bit of an old barbershop theme.💈Might swap out the shower curtain for something barber-ish but I’m very happy for now :)

Just sitting here out in Rockford watching the young one play some futbol with as I reflect on last night’s charity trivia night. Dressed in pink & red to match our Galentine’s theme table, our table of six gals and two guys learned that 10 jurors were replaced in OJ Simpson’s trial, the meaning of the word Coprostasophobia and that Babe Ruth coached the Dodgers for a year. There’s always that one person in the crowd who seems to know every answer. The house is definitely in disaster mode, per usual when a big holiday ends, and I’m slowly transitioning to winter / pre spring / Valentine decor. As a huge fan of hearts, I’m a self proclaimed heart connoisseur. In simpler terms, I like my hearts fat. None of those anorexic looking hearts for me. I often have hearts displayed year round and even my engagement ring is a heart shape diamond. I just picked up 2 sherpa heart pillows and I ❤️ them. They are so soft, extra large and oh so plump- just the way I like ‘em. I saw them in the store last year too, but they sold out right away. I tried to find other heart pillows, but all of them were (and still are) smaller and too skinny. So I was left heart broken 💔. That’s why I snatched these up last week and if you won’t settle for skimpy heart pillows, you probably shouldn’t wait. They come in grey and pink faux fur, and a blush faux Mongolian fur, too. Also ❤️-ing the tasseled velvet heart garland I found. You can see a little bit of it in the basket draped over the heart pillow. Welp, back to packing up ornaments. Later, friends 👋🏼

Ahh, the smell of grilled cheese sandwiches on the stovetop greeted me as I exited the shower today and I looked very forward to consuming one as I finished up applying my arsenal of skincare products. I should have read my Fruits of the Spirit sign as I headed to the kitchen, because I was totally absent of at least 8 fruits, upon discovering that there was not a single crumb left for me. 😩 In my defense, I was extremely hangry and the fact that nobody (husband) didn’t beg for my forgiveness caused me to go off for a solid half hour. Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Goodness and Self-Control: Such simple words but not easy to always live by. As 2019 draws near, I pray that I can keep all 9 Fruits of the Spirit in my heart. It just makes for a happier life. And as they say, a happy wife is a happy life. ❤️ #galatians522 ❤️

My best friend made me cry yesterday when she brought over an early Christmas gift that she knew I would want to enjoy before Christmas. A few weeks ago, we were in one of our favorite stores, and I fell instantly in love with this gorgeous antique chippy window, adorned with the most beautiful Christmas artwork I’ve ever seen. I wish you could fully see all the detail and what looks to me like golden angel dust sprinkled around the edge of the glass. It’s pure magic and I am beyond touched that my best friend went out and bought it for me the very next day. I love it mingling with these mercury glass trees and little white candle lit houses, so I think I’m going to hang it in this window. I’ll never want to take it down though. I don’t know what I did to deserve a friend that loves me this much. But for the past 18 years, she’s inspired me in more ways than she knows. Thought I’d sneak in a shot of sonny boy’s room before he returns from college tonight for winter break because it definitely won’t be looking like this come tomorrow! This former playroom, turned teen paradise is equipped with a huge tv with all the video game fixins, a frig and one of the comfiest, sleep inducing sofas known to mankind. We purchased it almost 20 years ago for the playroom, and let me tell you, it’s taken a huge beating over the years. It’s endured everything from toddler jumping and fort making to multiple teens (grown men size) sleeping and doing lord only knows what on it... This room holds so great many memories and to be honest, if I were a young adult, I’d never want to leave it. I’m excited for my son to come home and have a good nights sleep in his bed - which is probably the most comfortable bed in the house. What a nice break from his twin bunk in the tiny college dorm.
