Back to regularly scheduled content aka back to not being on break and early mornings. I so wish I was a morning person! ✨are you a morning person?

We had a long winter break this year which was nice but with the holidays falling midweek, didn’t seem like a break, if that makes sense.

Overall, winter break was so nice and rejuvenating. Not used to being up at 430 though or not being able to use the bathroom whenever I feel like it 🫠

I repotted some plants over break and moved these Hoyas into a chunkier soil. They were in the coco coir they came in and not thriving so I moved them to a chunkier mix and my fingers are crossed.

It finally happened. The dreaded (or not??) all pink leaves.

When the leaves are all pink, they lack the chlorophyll needed for photosynthesis and will essentially starve itself —whomp whomp.

The last leaf actually has a tiny speck of green on it but if the next leaf comes out all pink I am going to chop and prop and see what happens. (They are sooooo pretty though). There is already another new leaf ready to pop so I will update soon!

Do you think we should get rid of the time changes?

I usually don’t notice the time change but we have had a LONG week with parent teacher conferences, ACCESS testing, and the craft fest. Conferences continue into this coming week but then we have a few days off and I cannot wait. I guess I will know more about how I feel about it tomorrow night after conferences 😂

I wanted to document some of my plants so I could see how much they grow in the near future. I never remember to document plants when I get them to track their growth so that is something I am going to work on 😂

The plant in the cover photo used to be the variegated silver dragon alocasia I found at @homedepot but it shriveled up despite my best humidity efforts so I chopped it to the base and restarted. This is the one I am the most excited to see grow. I also harvested some corms and am excited to see how those end up as well.

I guess I have two:

I wish I had invested in clear nursery pots and good soil—or at least started making my own soil mix sooner. I have lost a lot of plants to root rot due to dense soil and ambitious watering 😅 the clear pots allow you to keep tabs on the roots and the mixed soil helps keep the soil light and loose.

Anxiously awaiting garden season. Are you?!

I made this herb trellis holder thing with the intention of bringing it inside for the winter but completely forgot about it in the garage. Better luck this year 😂

I got the trellis at Menards and spray painted it black. I’m going to need to seal it this year as well. Any grid type trellis will work for this!

🌱Part 1 of my Landscaping Journey 🌱

Excited to share the first step in transforming my yard. With all of the internal work we had done (and simultaneously destroying the yard with all the machines to save our home from caving in on itself) it feels great to start getting the outside to match the inside.

I decided to go with hostas here because I’ve been told they are hard to kill (even tho this is direct sun and they are shade plants) as well as a sage plant. Verdict is still out on if this was a wise choice.

Chinese Money Plant- Pilea peperomioides-Pancake Plant

🪴well draining soil- ideally a pot with holes!
💦 dry between waterings- droopy leaves are a sign to water, don’t want to become waterlogged
☀️medium to bright light, rotate often so they don’t grow wonky
