This is one of the best times to grab dorm basics, before prices surge (and during Amazon’s big spring sale, happening right now!), and while they are still in low demand! 🛌 I’ve painstakingly organized everything you will need in my Ultimate Dorm Essentials collection of idea lists. Check the guide and grab items during the spring sale!! Here’s my advice on things that are actually safe to buy ahead for the dorms - the essentials they will need no matter what, no matter the dorm setup: SAFE TO BUY NOW 1. Twin XL bedding - foam topper (grab it now!!), sheets, comforter or duvet, mattress protector, pillows, etc. 2. Shower stuff - shower shoes, caddy, robe, towels/washcloths (2-3 sets) 3. Laundry essentials - detergent, color catcher sheets, dryer sheets, portable laundry bag, hamper, body wash, etc. 4. Fan - a must-have, so grab one during a big sale! 5. Air purifier - do not skip this essential for staying healthy in the dorms 6. Small vacuum - this is my son’s top pick for dorm essentials. 7. Basic cleaning supplies - bleach wipes, paper towels, soap 8. Power strips/extension cords - you’re going to need multiple and will likely go back for more later! 9. Reusable water bottle - get the bottle, but wait to buy the filter/pitcher until you know more about your room. 10. School supplies - iPad, laptop, backpack - get it all on sale! WAIT UNTIL YOU KNOW YOUR SETUP 1. Room decor - wait until you see the space + your roommate’s vibe 2. Kitchen stuff - you may not need it 3. Large furniture - almost always unnecessary 4. Furniture - wait until you know your specific room config to buy things like a bedside table, bed risers, chairs, etc. 5.
