I’m wearing this Claire Maxi Dress in the size A/1X (14/16W). I wear between a 1X and 2X at Arula depending on the style, and I definitely suggest going with your smaller size in the Claire. The neckline is elastic, and there’s smocking under the bust. There are ties to tie a bow at the neckline, but they are purely decorative, not drawstrings. The sleeves are also elastic, and the tiered skirt has a voluminous cut. The dress is cut from a silky lightweight poly fabric. There’s no stretch to the fabric itself, just the elasticized and smocked portions. The wide open neckline is the defining feature of this dress. It’s lovely, but it is quite low on my short-waisted frame. I have to wear a demi plunge bra with it, and still I used fashion tape for a bit more coverage. I wish the neckline was adjustable and may end up tacking the dress in at the shoulders. But depending on your height, frame, and bust, the neckline may not pose such issues for you.

I’m wearing this Sheer Floral Layered Wrap Dress (25% OFF with code 2024LIZ25) in the size 16/18. I’m between sizes at Ulla Popken and went with my smaller size in this dress as it runs on the larger side. Plus, it’s has stretch for a comfortable, flexible fit. The body of the dress is lined, the wide flutter sleeves are sheer, and there are decorative ties at the waist, but they are not adjustable. I accessorized with Gold Twist Hoops from Lane Bryant, my past season Kate Spade Romy Bag, and these past season braided sandals. I wore this out for my friend’s birthday where we visited a botanical garden at sunset, went out for dinner and drinks, and then went to see a play. While we were out, I got so many compliments on this dress, especially the color, which is what inspired this post to begin with. So if red is your power color, consider this a nudge to find your perfect little red dress.

She’s an outfit repeater!😉🌸This @anthropologie Somerset Dress is one of my favorite items in my closet. It’s one of Anthro’s most popular and highly rated styles (sizes xs-3X) because the romantic silhouette and flexible fit are literal perfection. They release the dress in fresh lengths, fabrics, and colorways each season, and this is last year’s Embroidered Edition in pink and yellow. I photographed it at a flower festival at @cheekwood in Nashville last year and again at @matthaeinichols peony garden just last weekend. The maxi length makes it feel like the most special princess dress, and yet it’s so easy to wear. I love a beautiful day dress for romanticizing the everyday. This blue linen is so light and airy, and in the dreamiest shade of blue. It’s casual enough to wear with sneakers but versatile enough to dress up for dinner. It’s a total throw-on-and-go dress, and it’s comfy, full-coverage for sun protection, and still breezy. Wearing the 16/18.

Okay, Ulla! This dress is so simple yet so sexy. Wear it as-is in the summer or layer over cardis and jackets for the seasonal transitions. I’m wearing the size 18 in this stretchy, slinky plisse dress. The fabric is so silky against the skin, the cut is just right on my high-waisted frame, and the high-low length works great on my 5’4” frame. This one comes in a few different colors too!

❤️RUBY FOR A ROSE GARDEN WEDDING

I’m wearing the size 16/18 in this stretchy mesh flutter sleeve dress. There are bow details at the waist on each side, but they do not cinch the waist. This one is breezy and falls beautifully. I wore it to dinner + a show and got soooo many compliments on it, especially the color.

💚EMERALD FOR A DESTINATION BEACH WEDDING

This dress is my favorite of the bunch and looks like a designer version that retails for 3X the price. I sized up to the 20 in this since there’s no stretch. It’s a thick, quality linen in the most gorgeous shade of green. I love an easy dress in the summer and will wear this on heavy rotation the season ahead.
