So on a complete whim (ie.was on sale), I bought this 'statement' resin coral necklace. I seldom wear anything
'bold' like this and it's been sitting on my dresser for months and I really didn't know what to do with it...with a summery resort piece it's too obvious and since I was looking at it nearly everyday I realised that it needed to be used conversely - not with a summery piece (way too obvious and normal) but with a deep charcoal knit (which I didn't have and had to find). So here it is, finally worn. I like juxtapositions in fashion and this does that for me. All the greys and the bone macintosh tone down the red and 'resortness' of the necklace and it feels more modern!

Two of my more recent acquisitions..this fab (well I think it is!) jacket from @camillaandmarc - I like the oversized-ness of it and especially like the underside of the collar in contrast grey felt (it’s all in the details!!). It has grey and blue in the stripe so I can wear it back to either grey or blue denim and here I’m wearing with @sportscraft Pippa Barrel jeans. The oversized style of the jacket also allows for me to wear thicker knits which is a massive bonus with this cold snap!

I have found the new perfect basic sneaker!! It’s always hard finding the right tone of white (not too yellow, not a stark white) AND most importantly it not having a black sole which can really throw an outfit if you’re not wearing any black when the rest of your look is predominantly neutral or a colour. These are the Puma Speedcat in Alpine Snow.
If you don’t already have a basic/neitral sneakers, get your hands on a pair of these!

I was wasting time yesterday scrolling on varies websites and came upon this jacket which is slightly similar to one I got at Uniqlo a few years ago and has remained the holy grail of casual/working from home/hanging out in a weekend jackets - light, roomy, comfortable and very warm. Anyway, I ordered it assuming it wouldn’t have all those elements and I’d return it but OMG this does the very same thing! There aren’t many left (I just checked) and it also comes in cream. It looks like they have more in store so if you can’t find you size, check store availability. I’m wear size Large.

I love burnished gold in clothing and this skirt from Oroton is fabulous! Wear slightly hip slung. I’ve worn with a knit but equally you could wear with a white tee or a poplin white shirt. I’d intended to wear this with a cotton white dinner shirt I own but couldn’t find it when I was packing! I’d also love to do this for day with a sand trench over the top. These shoes I bought from Prada in 1999 and still going strong!

I love the shape of these Citizens of Humanity jeans. They’re called the Ayla. Baggy, very comfortable and flattering! I love them in the off white but they’re also great in worn denim and worn grey. Worn here with a cotton cashmere knit- simple but chic and the small heel extends and flatters the leg line but a flat sandal or sneaker also look great with these.

Yesterday a girl pulled over in her car and yelled out her window (much to the annoyance of the car behind her) ‘where did you get your trench’? This isn’t the first time this has happened when I’ve worn this trench. I’ve had people run down the street and grab me asking the same question. And this has happened multiple times. This trench has served me well. I’ve had it maybe 2-3 years now and I like how it can go over almost anything and I especially like how the beigy colour has a semi neutralising effect if I’m wearing lots of colour or print underneath.
What’s special about this trench? Probably the length and extra volume (I hate a ‘mean’ trench!!).

This is a very nice coat. I’m currently enjoying a double breasted coat. Simple, black. Great for work or throwing over something if you’re going out at night and it’s chilly. Also love these zebra pumps. They’d be a very nice contrast with an all black look. Both from Witchery.

This is a great allrounder sneaker that will go with just about any colour therefore would be incredibly useful! Soon we’ll all be reaching for a closed toe as the weather starts to cool and these are a great basic to have on hand when that time comes. I’ve bought quite a few Studio pieces over the years that are still get outings many years later (and comments from strangers when I walk down the street!!). Love this fab barrel style Jean from Rolla’s. So versatile! I wore with a tee and flat pointy ballet for earlier in the day and for night have thrown on a (very tiny) heel, a silver bag and chunky silver earrings and black jacket.

I love anything Dyson (how life changing are the stick vacuums??) but this Airstrait is so fabulous. I go from wet to salon polished dry in under 10 minutes and always get very kind comments from people. I’ve always loved batik. Early days of going to Bali and searching out beautiful pieces of fabric (we’re talking the 80’s and it was the real deal) and a fabulous Yohji outfit I bought wore and loved. Now you can get it from Morrison here in a fine linen. Nice paired back with tailoring too and you could try the shirt with a plain bottom rather than head to toe print if that’s too much print for you!

Love these jeans from Neuw Denim. They’ve a loose (ie very comfortable) leg and there’s no elastin (so they don’t cling to your lumpy bits!). I think the colour in these is Arizona and I had to size down.

In the ‘how to dress for winter at night’ series, here’s a denim look that is polished and modern. I love a cropped boxy jacket with slightly narrower denim jean and a small heel to make it feel a bit more ‘dressed’. Shearling (or this case faux shearling) jackets are so warm for these chillier days and are available at every price point. Great when paired back to denim. These are a fave from Toteme and are narrower in the leg than my regular picks!

Denim with a crunchy blue shirt has always been a classic and still looks fresh. Equally classic when paired with a simple sneaker and trench.
