Kitchen details — splurges that are worth it For me, there’s always a time to splurge and a time to save. The kitchen is truly the heart of our home. We make most of our food from scratch, so I wanted to go all in on the details — especially since we spend so much of our time here. We upgraded to solid white oak cabinets with a rich custom stain, and I chose vintage-inspired milk glass pendants that make a statement while giving off the softest glow at night. I went with marble countertops again — I love them that much. I know marble gets a bad reputation, but I love how it naturally ages, and we haven’t had any staining issues. We also upgraded most of our lower cabinets to drawers. They’re simply more practical — everything fits better and functions better. I splurged on a stove I know will last a lifetime. Vintage meets modern in the best way. The double swoop brass sconces add that old-world feel, and the linen shades bring in the prettiest texture. And lastly, the stools. I’m usually not one for matchy-matchy, but this wood tone blends seamlessly with our custom stain. The mix of wood, rattan, and an upholstered cushion feels layered, warm, and intentional.
