My nighttime skincare routine at 51 years old with sensitive skin prone to redness My daily skincare routines are always evolving. I do get sent lots of gorgeous products to try which is wonderful, but I am extremely careful with what I put on my face because my skin is in a good place right now and I really don't want to rock the boat. Since going on a mission to get my skin back to being happy again I've learned that if you have sensitive skin which is prone to redness then using skincare with lots of actives will compromise your skin's barrier. It's a good idea to strip everything back to basics and use gentle products specially made for sensitive skin for at least 2-3 weeks, or even a couple of months depending on how stressed out your skin is. I'd also recommend reintroducing actives one step at a time, and some you might want to avoid altogether. For example, Vitamin C, although a powerful antioxidant, can cause redness & sensitivity in some people. I'd also recommend avoiding any skincare products with added fragrance, even "natural" fragrances like essential oils if you're prone to sensitivity. Finally beware of chemical exfoliants in products, such as AHAs & BHAs if you're experiencing sensitivity. Over-exfoliating your skin can compromise your skin's barrier, and lead to problems further down the line. Remember as we age our hormone balance changes and so does our skin. Often our skincare which worked for us for years can start causing issues seemingly out of the blue, so it's good to reassess, tweak and review. LTKbeauty LTKeurope LTKFind
