I grew up in an abusive household, and for a long time, I wanted to become a child psychologist.
In college, I studied psychology and was especially drawn to child play therapy. During a summer internship, I had the opportunity to work closely with children and families navigating difficult situations.
That experience changed me.
I quickly realized how emotionally demanding this work truly is and that I didn’t have the capacity to carry the weight of other children’s trauma every day.
