I grew up in an abusive household, and for a long time, I wanted to become a child psychologist. In college, I studied psychology and was especially drawn to child play therapy. During a summer internship, I had the opportunity to work closely with children and families navigating difficult situations. That experience changed me. I quickly realized how emotionally demanding this work truly is and that I didn’t have the capacity to carry the weight of other children’s trauma every day. It gave me an even deeper appreciation for the therapists who dedicate their lives to helping others heal. The compassion, strength, and resilience they bring to their work is nothing short of extraordinary. To every therapist, counselor, and mental health professional: thank you. The work you do changes lives. 🤍 What’s a career path you almost chose? LTKOver40 LTKmomlife LTKdayinmylife
