Can’t Help Falling in Love by Sophie Sullivan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was really cute and fun to read. The plot, fake dating, was predictable, especially when adding in the wealthy guy and struggling female, but I still found myself looking forward to reading it at every chance I got. The characters were really well done, their chemistry was amazing and the banter was fun.

Do not listen to the last hour of this book at your desk at work… I had tears streaming down my face and someone came up to me to ask what was wrong. This story was filled with emotion. My heart swells and hurts at the same time. This was so much more than just a Christmas love story. This was a love story of a new family that happened to take place around Christmas time.

I loved this book. The story takes us to Nottingham, England in 1931 through the end of WWII. It follows Emma, a widowed mother, who finds a job in the Booklover’s Lending Library.

The Slowest Burn by Sarah Chamberlain ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I really enjoyed the plot of this and the characters, however it was a little too slow of a burn. During the first half of the book I really struggled to pick this up - but the second half I couldn't put the book down.

The Talk by Darrin Bell ⭐⭐⭐⭐

. This was very well done. Bell talks about growing up half black half white. He speaks of his encounters with police for" driving while black " and when younger, for playing with a toy gun in the streets. This was a very interesting journey to take with Bell. I enjoyed the narrators. It must be hard to narrate a story with so many moving parts. I can’t wait to stop in the library to pick up the graphic novel of this to see the illustrations that went along with the words. I am still thinking about this one days later.

The descriptions in this book were actually perfect. I could see the mountains, flowers and scenery. I could smell the fresh air. I felt as if I were with the characters in the book. I enjoyed the dual timelines and both the main characters

Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow, was this a tear jerker. This was a beautifully written story about sisters, their trauma from childhood and how it impacts their adult lives and relationships. The 3 Blue Sisters are brought back together on the year anniversary of the 4th sisters death. They are all drastically different, but all dealing with addictions in their own way. Together they have to work through some of their childhood issues, trauma from today and heartbreak. You will fall in love with their relationship, your heart will break from their experiences and be amazed at the way they support one another (even when they disagree.) A wonderfully written story about sisterhood, grief and destructive behaviors.

First in the Family by Jessica Hoppe ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A memoir, written by Jessica Hoppe explores the firsts that she experiences. The first in her family to graduate college. The first in her family to go into AA for recovery of Alcoholism. The writing and the story were raw. Jessica showcases generational trauma and societies views on Latinx / people of color and addiction. I don’t love reading about politics and there were many moments where this book dove into that. The audiobook was read by Jessica herself, and I think she did a great job. Not every author can pull it off. I always enjoy reading about people’s unique journeys. This one was worth the read.

Fifty seven Fridays by Myra sack

This was one of the most beautiful and difficult books that I have ever read. A tragic, true story, about a family's experience with Tay Sachs, a fatal and neurodegenerative disease. After the diagnosis of their 1 year old daughter, this incredible couple celebrates every Friday, calling them Shabbirthdays, to celebrate all the birthdays that they will not get to experience with their beautiful daughter, Havi. Through letters that they write to their daughter, during and after her way too short life, and special experiences they make, they somehow manage to make every parent's nightmare into a magnificent life together. With help from family and close friends, they shower their daughter with so much love. This story literally ripped my heart out - but somehow I also found myself smiling and laughing through the everyday moments. A must read about grief, love and the bonds of a family.
