Scrolling influencer accounts, it feels like nobody knows what to wear anymore. I can’t keep up with the insincerity of micro trends—“old money” aspirational jackets actually from fast fashion brands, lab diamonds implausibly large to look right, a silk scarf they’ve never otherwise shown interest in although they’ve been a hallmark for decades.

If your sense of what’s in style changes with the trends, do you have a sense of style at all? I’m not sure. A few of these girls really set the trends, and it’s incredible creativity. It’s a challenge to find someone sharing something new, but a few really do.

- Trim dark jeans in a not trendy silhouette.
- Belgian loafers.
- Blazer.
- Top handle bag.
- Cashmere sweater you’ve had 20 years when cashmere was actually soft and luxurious.
- Brown leather belt that would look just as smart on a prep school boy as on a 40 year old mom.

An outfit for when I’m not sure what we’re doing on a casual weekend. Tennis skirt and long sleeve athletic tee from LuluLemon (Amazon has the best tennis and golf skirts though!) with a GAP cotton cardigan in cornflower blue.
