Surprising my dad with his own vegetable garden 🥕🍅🫑 I’ve been dreaming of doing this since my dad got out of the hospital last October, and am so thankful that we were able to pull it off and surprise him! It truly feels like such a blessing to be able to use some of the knowledge I’ve learned these last few years to help him begin his own gardening journey🤍 If you’ve been wanting to start your own, here are my biggest beginner tips ⤵️ • If using raised beds (I linked the ones we used here on my Amazon), lay hardware cloth underneath before filling to help keep moles and critters out• Save money by filling the bottom half with sticks, leaves, and yard debris, then top with a mix of topsoil + compost• Easy vegetables to direct sow: carrots, radishes, green beans, peas, lettuce, spinach, zucchini, cucumbers• Better started indoors or bought as transplants: tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, cabbage, herbs• Start smaller than you think! A few thriving plants are better than an overwhelming garden. • Don’t wait until you “know enough” to begin. Gardening is one of those things you learn by doing 🌱 I hope that maybe this inspires you to finally make the leap to starting your own gardening journey, and let me know if you have any other questions!
