We tried the viral portrait painting date night, and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this hard! 🤣 Poor Eric was stressing over how bad his was, while I just giggled at every deep breath and sigh he took. 🎨✨
We started doing at-home date nights four years ago because we could afford the date or the babysitter—but not both. Turns out, we’re total homebodies who love making fun memories at home anyway. This is part of my rooted in togetherness at home dates series.

Try this with your husband? Here’s how to set it up: 🖌 Set up two easels facing each other (no peeking 👀) 🎨 Grab canvases, paint, brushes & water cups  🍸 Make fun drinks & treats (we had Harvey Wallbanger cake and cocktail!) 😂 Paint each other’s portraits & prepare to DIE laughing when you reveal them

How to make celebrating Valentine's Day at-home special and fun
1. Set the mood - dim the lights, turn on a good playlist and light a few candles
2. Food - since we always do dates after the kids to bed we only have dessert. This time I made snicker dates (they are so good) and lemon raspberry danishes
3. Drinks - I love a good cocktail and these bourbon raspberry smashes were the perfect blend of sweet and tarte
4. Activity - I’ve had this idea in my head for over a year. Pottery night. We made a vase together. I found a template on etsy and it was fairly easy to make using air dry clay
