I think we’ve confused luxury with extravagance. The best luxuries are often much smaller: the things that remove a little friction from an ordinary day. A face mist when you’ve been running since 7 a.m. A lip serum that actually works. A protein bar when lunch didn’t happen. Hand wipes exactly when you need them. None of it is impressive. All of it is useful. Perhaps that’s a better definition of luxury: not things that make life look expensive, but things that make life work beautifully.
