I’ve gotten a few questions about what this contraption is after sharing it on my stories, so I wanted to share more details about what it is, why I added it to Otto’s wishlist and why we think every senior cat needs one!

So what is it?!
It’s a wellness center that is meant to be a grooming assistant. The white ridges are a massaging section for your cat to rub their heads, neck and body on. The grey parts are brushes to remove any loose fur. The green part is a gum stimulator to improve dental hygiene and has a spot in it to put catnip (some included!) The green part is a little cushion for your cat to sit and lay on as they groom themselves.

Why did I add this to Otto’s wishlist?
Otto had gone a long time without grooming himself when we found him evident by the knots and mats in his fur on his neck, arms, legs, back, belly and tail- basically all over his body. After shaving him, he started itching and licking his legs and arms then grooming his face. He has started grooming more and more since but still doesn’t completely groom himself. We assist him by brushing him, but this wellness center was added to the list to empower him to be able to groom himself and give him some of his pride back.

Why do we think it’s essential for seniors?
If your senior isn’t able to groom themselves anymore or isn’t taking to getting brushed, this may help! I’ve messaged a few of you who have mentioned struggling to groom your cat or having to shave them due to grooming issues. Once I set this out for Otto and filled the catnip compartment, he went to town on this like he had read the instruction manual 🥹 if you want to get one for your own senior (or any other age cat!)

This waterless shampoo is a new addition to his grooming routine and it worked great to make his hair soft and skin moisturized and is meant to naturally deodorize him. When we first got him, we had to give him multiple consecutive baths and the mats resulted in him having bad dandruff. I could see a visible difference just by the first use of this and can’t wait to see the benefits of regular use, especially as his hair grows back in.
