Bye bye gross carpet! 👋🏻 Our staircase remodel took about 3 months start to finish and was mostly DIYed by my husband. But we did hire a contractor to install the handrail at the end. Full details below. 👇 Total all-in cost: $2,000 1. Treads, handrails and newel post from @jmp_wood We chose red oak because it was the most cost efficient. 2. We mixed 1 part Verathane Aged Wheat stain with 3 parts low odor mineral spirits, then took it to Sherwin-Williams to create a custom blend. We put one coat on the treads and handrails, then finished with 3 coats of water-based polyurethane. 3. We used Sherwin-Williams Pure White in semi-gloss finish for the risers and trim. staircase remodel, home diy, diy staircase, wood stair treads, staircase ideas, home improvement, new build LTKHome
