It’s definitely trench coat season and a trench can be a key piece in many wardrobes. When looking for a classic trench coat, here are a few of my top tips to ensure you make the perfect purchase. 1. TONE - is the colour the right shade for your skin tone? 2. LENGTH - will this work with skirts, trousers and dresses? And most importantly, where does the hem finish? The hem creates a horizontal line so you need to make sure this isn’t cutting through the widest part of your leg. 3. PRICE - a trench should be a piece that you invest as much as you can afford as it’s a classic that you’ll pull out year after year. Consider cost per wear when making your purchase. 4. FABRIC - traditional trench coat fabrics can be quite stiff which won’t work on any body shape with curves, irrespective of size.
