What I bought vs how I styled my newly remodeled bedroom. I always start with a rug and pull colors out from there for accent colors. The white bed, chaise lounge are the perfect timeless pieces that brighten up the space. The chandelier adds drama and dimension and the moody artwork is the perfect addition. I’m also obsessed with the two small nightstands that are affordable but heirloom quality.

Father’s Day Gift Idea: Homemade Maple Popcorn in a DIY Etched Glass Jar

Use candy thermometer to boil maple syrup until it reaches “hard ball”. Pour over popcorn 🍿 This mixture can also be added to silicone lollipop molds to make maple lollipops or hard candies 🍁

If you have a small room, try adding an oversized mirror. It reflects light and makes it appear so much larger. I put this in my living room and it adds so much light and depth. Pro tip: I saved hundreds on this mirror by getting it in an off color that was on sale and painting it black. I did the same with our new front door.

I like to keep my decor minimal because my mind is so cluttered that having a lot of clutter makes it worse. Just a few dramatic faux stems in a large vase, an antique bowl filled with a mix of faux and real lemons with a runner and functional decor like a marble trivet that holds dishwashing soap and hand soap. Also I still love my pendant lights. The inside is shell and they have the prettiest golden glow.

Here are the steps to an easy tile installation:

1. Use the tile mat. It applies like a sticker and you don’t need to use messy mortar. The tiles just stick to it.
2. I used these tiles which didn’t need spacers. They are handmade so the wavy uneven edges created their own natural space so I placed them right up against each other.
3. One the tile is down, lay your tile. If you have short ceilings (like I do) I think aligning them vertically may make your ceilings appear taller. I would do that next time.
4. Grout! Mix your grout. I applied with my gloved hand and then at the end used a trowel to smooth. Then wipe down.
5. Optional: Use a grout sealer.
