Spring 2025

By Dianne_InStyle

My Spring 2025 recommendations

I love color, if you haven’t already noticed! And for summer, one of my favorites is orange.

The contrast with white is one of my favorite ways of wearing it. It’s so bright and summery. But if that’s too bright for you, you can tone it down with dark denim.

There are lots of shades of orange to consider. If you’re not a fan of the brighter shade, you can opt for a more coral or even peachy shade. No matter your skin tone, you can find a shade that works for you.

The belt is the ultimate third-piece rule accessory. It can add structure, polish, and flair to your outfits. It’s an easy way to add color and hardware to a look.

In these three looks, I am adding butter yellow to my outfit in a belt. It’s the perfect option for anyone who loves the color but doesn’t feel it looks good on them.

Adding a concho belt always adds interest. It’s a fun look that I especially love wearing to country concerts in the summer.

But the belt is just as crucial for everyday style. It can finish off even the most basic outfits to elevate the look.

Memorial Day is less than a month away; as you know, it’s considered the “unofficial” start of summer. It’s also the unofficial start of the patriotic wardrobe season. It’s time for barbecues, backyard parties, parades, or beach days. That means it’s also time to start thinking about holiday outfits that will take you from Memorial Day through the 4th of July.

You don’t need stars and stripes to show your spirit. With a few thoughtful pieces, you can celebrate the holidays in style, without looking like you raided the party store.

I’ve put together several outfit collages for all the different activities you might be attending in addition to this post. Make sure to catch them all on my page!

These three looks all center around the same pair of white wide leg denim and how easy to it to change it up with a great base layer.

Brown and Blue. It’s another one of my favorite color combinations.

Here’s a true story. “Back in the day,” when I was in elementary school, my mom always made me wear a dress to school and I am pretty sure it was up until 4th grade. I kept begging her to let me wear pants because all my friends were wearing them. Finally, she relented, and the first pair of pants I wore to school were blue and brown flower print pants (don’t judge, haha). So, maybe it’s because of that memory or because it reminds me of the colors of the beach, I just love this combination.

My dress is from Amazon, and I’ve put together a collage of other blue and brown pieces. But of course, you can create your look as simple as a pair of brown denim and a light blue top. I love chocolate and brown, as well as a lighter tan and brown. There are many ways to experiment with this color combination and have fun with it..

Ever put off trying a trend because you think it’s not for you…..only to find out that you actually LOVE it??

That’s what happened to me on the vest trend. Even though I thought it looked good on other people, I didn’t think I would like it.

But then I decided to try it and have fallen in love with it. I find the look so versatile. It’s a great look for work, but just as much fun for your casual outfits.

I’ve put together four of my favorite looks and ways to style vests this season. I do love the belted look, especially for work. Traditional vests can also be worn to work, but I love them just as much for my everyday looks.

“Work blouse” + Jeans = A look I love to style.

There’s something about the juxtaposition of a work blouse with jeans that I love to pair them together. It’s a great casual office look, but it’s just an overall chic look for everyday.

One of the things I love about a bow blouse is that you can wear it two ways. Tied in a bow for a more formal look and loosely tied for a more casual, relaxed look. I let my mood decide how I will wear it that day. You can also add a blazer to finish out the look, or make it more polished for the office.

I paired the blouse alone with pink suede pumps, and for a more business-like look, I swapped them out for more classic navy pumps. I also changed my purse from a smaller satchel to a bigger tote, again, to elevate it to a more professional look.

Butter Yellow? Yes please! 💛

I know I am not the first (nor will I be the last) to post about butter yellow this season. But, I wanted to take my time to find pieces that I truly loved. These three are on the top of my list because they are classics and you can wear them in so many different ways.

Both the butter yellow blouse and the peplum jacket can be worn with trousers or jeans. Either piece can be worn to the office or out to dinner. The casual dress can stay casual with sneakers like I am wearing, but you could just as easily pair it with some kitten heels and throw on a cropped blazer. So many possibilities!

Are you adding this color to your wardrobe?
Happy Easter from Archie and me! Wishing you a wonderful holiday this past week and today.

I did my best to try to match Archie’s Easter bandana. My dress is from Macy’s and it is still available in all sizes (and on sale today.)

Pink and Orange. I love them together so much. 🩷🧡

You may have heard me talk about it before, and now I get to share my thoughts on this great color combination in Real Simple. Check out Wendy Rose Gould's story on "9 Outfit Color Combos That Work Surprisingly Well Together". On realsimple.com. I am one of three stylists who contributed to this article. I have two other color combinations in the story as well.

I do "practice what I preach," as you can see by my sweater, which I found on Amazon. I think it's fun, and it's a perfect transitional piece.

I think the asymmetrical trend is so flattering for women over 50.

Why? Nexus’s it gives us a way to “add a little sexy” without having to show a lot of skin. It’s also a great way to show your personality. Am asymmetrical hemline, cut-out too, or even a one-shoulder top are great pieces to add your own personal flair. And if you don’t want to wear the trend, you can carry it in a handbag.

“Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking.” It may not be groundbreaking, but it is pretty.
There’s something about a floral dress that screams spring. And while the weather might not quite be there yet, it doesn’t mean we can’t dress for the season. I love this unique dress from Macy’s. It’s perfect for Easter, as a wedding guest dress, brunch, and so much more.

I’ve styled it two ways - with pink and green accents. Which one do you prefer?

Fringe is back—and it’s grown-up, elevated, and surprisingly wearable.

Whether it’s a fringe-trimmed hem that sways with movement, a standout jacket, or a statement bag, the key is to let the texture be the moment—without overwhelming your look.

In this reel:
1️⃣ A fringe-hemmed dress that adds movement
2️⃣ A fringe-trimmed top adding unique detail
3️⃣ A lightweight leather jacket with fringe detail
4️⃣ A fun accessory that ties it all together

Which look is most you? Drop your fave in the comments 👇

And follow for more ways to wear the trends (without chasing them).

It’s time to “sail” into Spring with the nautical trend.

While we’re calling this a trend, it’s a classic look that never really goes out of style. But it’s definitely having its day. There are lots of styles to choose from: classic cardigans and blazers with gold button detail, sailor pants, tops and shorts, stripes and more.

Of course, the best (and most obvious) is the use of navy and white, one of my favorite color combinations. It’s also a combination that pretty much everyone can wear. I love adding accent pieces or accessories in pink, red, and kelly green to add some interest. You can’t go wrong.

This look is just one part of the new post on my website, “ The Spring 2025 Style Guide.” Make sure to check it out.

I love a good jumpsuit but…..

If you’ve worn a jumpsuit to an event like me, you know all is good until you have to use the restroom. That’s when the gyrations start in the stall, or even worse, you have to get a friend to help you. So, that has made me avoid jumpsuits until I found this one – and it’s from Amazon!

I’ve done all the “testing” on this one for you. Because of the one shoulder and being low in the back, it makes it easy to put on and take off, if you know what I mean. With wedding season approaching, you can once again put a jumpsuit on your list as a potential stylish look.

The other feature I like about this jumpsuit is that it’s one-shoulder and not off-the-shoulder. While I do love an off-the-shoulder look, you often have to adjust it to keep it in the right spot. This one stayed in place. Another tip with this particular jumpsuit, I am wearing a regular bra. I just pulled down the one side and tucked it into the sleeve. Because of the ruching on the sleeve, you can’t see it, and it’s much more comfortable to wear this way.

This jumpsuit did not come with a belt, but I felt it needed one. So, I tried two options – the gold chain belt and the black belt with gold accents. Which look do you like better?

I love being over 50, especially when it comes to fashion. That’s because I have years of experience in figuring out my own style and I am finally in a place where I feel comfortable in my own skin…and my own closet!

While I love sharing my outfits and styling tips, my real passion is helping women over 50, just like me, feel confident in what they are wearing every day. As I said, fashion should be simple, accessible and fun! Getting dressed should be the least stressful part of your day, but I know it can sometimes be the worst part of your day.

That’s why I started “Dianne In Style” as a place where we can share fashion ideas, solutions to both unique and common style problems and so much more.

So, I’d love for you to give me a follow if you’re interested in seeing outfits, styling tips, fashion trends every week! It doesn’t matter if you’re just looking to add a few new pieces to your wardrobe or if you’re looking for a whole new look. I try to offer ideas and solutions no matter where you are in your fashion journey.

Who wants to come on this fashion journey with me?

Some days you’re a fashionista, some days you’re just a sports fan. Of course, I do try to add a little bit of style to my sporty looks.

I am a true baseball fan. If you’ve been following me for a while, you may have noticed that I am an overall sports fan. While I will be loving Opening Day today, I will be just as excited to watch the Michigan Wolverines play tomorrow night during March Madness.

Why do I love baseball? I grew up with just one brother, who is the ultimate baseball fan. He would “convince” me to spend my allowance on baseball cards. I would eat the gum and he would take the cards! He started playing baseball in Little League and has never stopped. He still plays today.

Then I married Jeff, who is a huge baseball fan too. And he has been in a softball league for years. My brother and sister-in-law and Jeff and I are on a mission to see all the ballparks in the country. Last year we visited St. Louis and Kansas City. This year we’re planning on Chicago and Milwaukee. So, it’s not just for the cute outfits!

Speaking of outfits, you can shop for what I am wearing. My jersey is from Target, and it is available in all the MLB teams on their website.

Did you happen to notice that I am wearing a New York Yankees hat and a Detroit Tigers jersey? There’s a reason for that. I grew up in New Jersey as a Yankees fan, but have lived in Detroit for a long time. So, I root for both teams. I do struggle when they play each other!

Gingham is back! Not that it ever really goes away, but it’s back in the forefront for Spring 2025.

Gingham falls into two of the trends for this season. There is a feeling of nostalgia influencing fashion this season, and I don’t know about you, but gingham reminds me of the outfits I used to wear as a kid. The second is the revival of 90s plaid. While gingham differs from the grunge plaid of the 1990s, it is still a nod to the plaids of the past.

This dress was one of those lucky finds at Marshall’s. You know what I mean - when there is only one and it happens to be in your size. Because of its simple lines, it’s easy to dress it up or down, as I’ve shown in these two pictures. I like it both ways. Adding a gingham piece to your wardrobe this season is like adding another classic you’ll have for seasons to come.

In addition to shopping these looks, I have also posted a collage with lots more gingham options. Make sure to check it out!
