I decided to take up hiking again 🏞️ After a 3 year hiatus, 2 years of nursing 🤱 and lots of ups and downs while my daughter was little, I was finally ready for a change of scenery. So I started walking, and climbing. While on the trail, I found two things my body has been craving - a workout with a purpose and the solitude I longed for. It’s been a little wild. But I feel so much at peace 🌎 Here are a few things I found along the way to help me hike comfortably and safely. These are basic essentials that should be in your hiking pack. If you’re looking to pick up this hobby here’s a list of what you’ll need: 1. Proper hiking shoes/boots. You are looking for good grip, stability and shock absorption. 🥾 2. Trekking poles (if you like your knees) 3. Moisture wicking base layer 4. Shell jacket 🧥 5. Fleece hoodie for when you’re taking breaks 6. Basic med kit 🩹 7. Bear horn/spray if they live in the area 🐻 8. Light comfortable pack with chest and waist clips 🎒 9. Garmin InReach if you’re going off grid. I also find it helpful to save the phone number to the ranger station of the area you’re hiking in your phone. Just in case. ☎️ 10. Compression socks. My feet said to add this one ;) what a difference! 🧦 11. Headlamp 💡 12. Sun protection (lotion, clothing, sunglasses) ☀️ 13. Baby changing pads make great seating mats for hiking 😉 14. Snacks🍫 15. Lots of water 💦 I linked everything I’m using below 👇 Let me know if I missed anything in the comments! outdoors backcountry hiking activewear LTKActive LTKSeasonal LTKTravel
