Let’s get into this look! As someone who generally doesn’t wear makeup and describes herself as more masc-presenting, it was super important to my client that she felt more than her everyday version of herself while remaining consistent with how she generally likes to look. We opted for a natural glam while creating an elevated look that suited the vibe of her wedding. The thing to know about natural glam is that it still requires all the same steps and often the same amount of makeup, unless you’re someone who’s seeking a barely there, ultra sheer coverage using only a skin tint, but we’ll cover that in another post. As I was saying, natural glam makeup looks often use the same amount of base makeup, contouring, and highlighting as soft and full glam looks. The difference between these styles lies more in the depth of contrast in the shades and colors used. For a full glam look, the contrast from the base color will be more dramatic. In a natural glam makeup look, the depth of contrast will be much closer to the base color, comparatively speaking. The best way to think of it is as a spectrum of shadows to midtones to highlights. The darkest/deepest color on the left, the lightest color on the right, and your base color (midtone) right in the middle. The colors you choose for contour and highlighting will move outward from the center, corresponding to your base color and the look you aim to create. The same philosophy can be applied to selecting hues for your blush, eyeshadow, and lipsticks, and lip glosses.
