I used @ilovethedoux Big Poppa and Pop lock to get these results. I did this wash and go coming out of a protective style so my hair was more dry than usual leading to more frizz and volume. I typically don’t like this but I really love how the volume accentuated the shape of my hair. I still had definition and my wash and go lasted a full week.

I can’t wait to try this combo again when my hair is a little more hydrated.

To Cleanse
➡️ @joonhaircare Sumac Scalp Scrub: I have been sleeping on scalp care clearly. I’ve had this in my collection for years and have used it here and there. Not because I didn’t like it but because I need saw the need. While it still may not be a need the results say otherwise. No itching for 6 weeks and I didn’t apply any serums or oils to scalp before or during the install. Idk I may be on to something.

➡️ @cecred Detoxifying Shampoo: Since I’ve gotten this I have been reaching for it whenever I need to clarify, especially coming out of a protective style. I love how it lathers and distributes easily through my hair despite how dirty my hair wash.

➡️ @dove Scalp+ Hair Therapy Hydrating Shampoo: I love following up a clarifying shampoo with a moisturizing one. I love this one from dove. It glides so easily onto my hair. It feels moisturizing, I can gently finger detangle with it and the lather is top tier.

To Condition
➡️ @dove Scalp+ Hair Therapy Hydrating Conditioner: this lightweight rinse out conditioner provides amazing slip. I love using it when I know I may struggle with tangles. I.e. after a protective style. It melts my knots away, perfect for detangling.

To Leave-in
➡️ @redken All Soft Mega Curls Hydra Melt Leave-In Treatment: I haven’t picked this one up in a while. But my hair was really dry coming out of a protective style so I wanted lock in the moisture and hydration with this leave-in. My hair ate this up.

Sorry yall I wanted to get this video out, so I opted not to do a voiceover but I’ll walk you guys through what may not have been clear in the video.

1. SECTIONS SECTIONS SECTIONS. As a high density (thick hair) girly this is the key to any slick style. I don’t like lumps and bumps in my styles. So working in sections is how I ensure every strand is coated and flat.

2. Order of Product application. I went in first with Bee Girl and I applied Slickback glaze on top.

3. Dryer. I used my @dysonbeauty to form a quick cast and get to areas not easily reached by my hooded dryer. Then I sat under my hooded dryer to dry the remainder of my hair.

Y’all dont understand how much I loved how this style came out. It lasted me a full week until it was time for wash day again and tbh I could’ve went longer.

These two gels will now be my go to for all slickbacks moving forward.
