How I stay warm during Nashvilles generational ice storm ❄️🌨️

If it were up to me, I’d stay inside until everything thaws… but Jane had other plans. She needed to stretch her legs and sniff around, so I layered up and headed out. Be sure to follow @haleylaurenandrews for more outdoor gear recs and real-life layering tips 🤍

Alright, here’s exactly how I keep myself warm, dry, and regulated when winter decides to show off:

Everyone and their mom is talking about merino base layers right now and honestly… it’s because they work. @smartwool nailed both performance and marketing, so yes, I’m fully influenced and fully warm. These are always my first layer when it’s brutally cold.

Layering is everything in winter. Being able to remove a layer before you get sweaty is key for staying comfortable longer. Like that flannel ending up being unnecessary, but that’s the beauty of layers. Easy on, easy off, better temperature control!

Socks deserve their own moment. Please don’t wear cotton. Wool is your best friend out here and makes a massive difference in how warm your feet stay 🙌

This was also the perfect excuse to highlight my new @mountainhardwear coat. I love that it has an inner shell for hiking or mild days, plus an outer shell you can layer on top for colder weather. Huge bonus that the outer shell works as a rain jacket on its own. Super versatile and such a smart design 😎

Last but not least, footwear matters. I went with my @keen hiking boots today and they kept my feet warm and dry thanks to being waterproof. Crampons would have been a great addition… need to invest in a pair.
