Yesterday I was feeling all types of anxiety and stress around my pup getting neutered. Maybe unreasonable stress, but it was a hard day. I know he was in great hands at the vet, and I was able to call whenever I wanted to check in. (Sorry Vet!! Ha) In the spirit of distraction, I decided a DIY home project in between meetings was the best remedy. Step 1 - Pick your stencil. So many great websites for them, but I purchased this from Cutting Edge Stencils. Antico Allover Stencil. I LOVE IT. Step 2 - ALWAYS tape off your base board, ceilings and anything else that you do not want paint on. I’ve learned this lesson the hard way TOO many times. Plus, lay down a painting cloth, or plastic to protect your floors. No matter how good you think you are, always protect your floors and walls you do not want dripped on! Step 3 - Throw that stencil up on the wall. Use a stencil level to make sure they are level. VERY important. I learned this the hard way too. :) Step 4: Paint the stencil. In my first square as you can see I used WAY too much paint. Way too much and it bled. So, use a light amount of paint. Don’t over do it. A little paint goes a long ways. My mom taught me that long ago but sometimes we don’t listen to our moms until we mess up and realise they were right. :) Step 5: Repeat. I would paint the stencil, pull it off right away, wait a minute and then go back. OR I would go back to work, come back later and do the next one. The key when doing this is to make sure all overlaps line up. And of course keep using the stencil level. What you’ll need: -Stencil -Paint (I’ve used the same gallon on three walls now) — Behr Marquee. Interior Paint. Eggshell base. Blackout. -Painters tape -Painters cloth or plastic -Steep stool -Rolling brush (adjust based on the stencil) -Paint holder — everything is linked! And there you go! Any questions?
