DIY popcorn ceiling removal — In our first home we removed ALL of the popcorn ceilings ourselves. Sadly the ceilings didn’t have mudding done when the house was built, but removing popcorn ceilings is actually super easy! First, make sure you double check the year your home was built and do a test patch to make sure there’s no asbestos. All you need is warm water and a putty knife for the removal… use the below container to drench/spray a section with warm water. Leave it for 30 seconds and then use a flat putty knife to scrape the popcorn ceiling. It should come off in full sheets (no dust). Sand the ceiling of any imperfections as you go, and that’s it!
