Decluttering done: the new year has begun!

Decluttering doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Small intentional changes can lead to BIG results!   1️⃣ CHANGE YOUR DESIGN, NOT YOUR HABIT: If you’ve struggled with clutter forever, it’s time to stop fighting your habits and start designing your space to work with them.  💡 Example Problem: Shoes pile up in your entryway, and you’re constantly moving them to another storage area. ✨ Solution: Ditch the open-bottom console table and invest in a piece of furniture that conceals shoe storage right there. Form meets function!  2️⃣ START SMALL: Decluttering doesn’t have to happen all at once. Avoid overwhelm by breaking tasks into bite-sized chunks and setting a timer.  💡 Example: Pick one area, like a single drawer in your dresser, and give yourself 15 minutes to declutter. One win builds momentum for the next!  3️⃣ AVOID DECISION FATIGUE: Struggling to let go of items? instead of focusing on “keep, donate/sell, trash” which might make you feel bad about letting go of certain items, change the wording: 1. What do you use: ALL THE TIME? 2. What do you use: LEAST? 3. What do you use: NOT AT ALL?  ✨ Pro Tip: Use the “90/90 Rule.” If you haven’t used something in the past 90 days and won’t in the next 90, let it go (seasonal items excluded).  4️⃣ LET YOUR STORAGE SPACE GUIDE YOUR LIMITS: You can only stay organized if your storage space matches your belongings amount. If it doesn’t fit neatly in your space, it’s time to let it go!  ✨ Pro Tip: Use the One In, One Out Rule. Every time you bring in something new, remove something old. To make this easy, keep a visible donate/sell bin nearby so unwanted items have a designated space until they’re gone.
 5️⃣ DESIGNATE “DUMP ZONES”: Daily clutter is inevitable, so work smarter, not harder. Create intentional spots for frequently used items to avoid mess piling up.  💡 Example: Place a catch-all basket near your entryway for keys, wallets, and sunglasses.  🔑 The key to lasting decluttering isn’t just getting rid of things—it’s creating systems that work for YOU and keeping them simple and functional.
