Butter is one of those things people think you have to buy at the store — but it’s actually just heavy cream that’s been mixed a little longer.

This is part one of my Things I Don’t Buy at the Store Anymore series, and homemade butter is one of the easiest swaps we’ve made at home. All you need is heavy cream and a stand mixer (I linked the exact one I use).

First, the cream turns into whipped cream — don’t stop there. Keep mixing, scrape the sides, and let it go until the butter fully separates from the buttermilk. Save that buttermilk (especially if you’re making cornbread later — trust me).

Once the butter forms, squeeze out as much liquid as you can, then rinse it under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps the butter last longer. Add salt to taste, shape it, and you’re done.

No additives. No preservatives. Just real food made at home — the kind that makes everyday meals feel better without overcomplicating life. 🧈

I’ve hit this point in my life where shrinking just isn’t an option anymore. Not spiritually, not emotionally, not in the way I lead myself, and definitely not in the way I show up for my calling.

Black Raspberry Fall Sangria

🍊 1/2–3/4 cup black raspberry liqueur
