Everything we use to keep our chicken coop clean!!
We have chicken sand in both or coop & run and even on our poop shelf under the nesting bars. Under the sand on the poop shelf we have sticky floor tiles to make for easier scooping. I typically clean at least once daily, but not totally necessary. I love the wire mesh hand scoops for the poop shelf & the blue coop scoop for everything else - between the sand and the scoop it’s like cleaning a giant litter box!

The sweet pdz is top notch at breaking down the extra ammonia smells and I spray the roost bars with the deodorizer spray.

We do first Saturday Lime the first Saturday of every month to help keep away mites!

Heat wave chicken care 🐓☀️
With these extra-hot summer days, we’ve been adding a few simple things to help keep the girls cool, comfortable + hydrated:
• A shallow pan of cool water with a brick inside so they can stand on it and cool down through their feet
• Open water bowls around the run to encourage extra drinking — add meal worms for extra fun!
• Corn + peas frozen into ice cubes for a cold treat and another little boost of hydration
• Plenty of ventilation inside the coop
• Fans running in both the coop + run to keep air moving
• A shaded run so they always have somewhere to get out of the direct sun
• Fresh, clean drinking water throughout the day — and on the hottest days I’ll add an ice pack to help it stay extra cool. Our insulated Omlet waterer actually does a great job keeping water cool in summer (and from freezing as quickly in winter), but a little extra help never hurts on extreme days!
• And one of my favorite things for peace of mind: our Blink cameras. I can check in on them when we’re away and make sure everyone is acting normally and no one is showing signs of overheating.
Keeping chickens comfortable in a heat wave really comes down to shade, airflow + LOTS of access to fresh water. 🤍🐓

I’ve never scraped the bottom of a container harder! I received this cleansing balm sample with a @sephora order and it was very well played on their part — I will definitely be ordering a full size jar!! I see they also have a water based face wash to compliment this oil based cleanser for the perfect cleansing duo!! (Do oil based first, then water based)

It also worked really well this past dance recital season when it came time to take off all of Ava’s stage makeup!!! For sure a cleansing routine you’ll look forward to!
