Workout tops are notorious for being *unflattering*. I am constantly on the hunt for styles that have nicer necklines and don’t crop too high. These are four I’ve recently added to my collection, and I think they’re super flattering for a lot of body shapes!

1) Running Bare Asymmetric Tank — love this because of the soft curved neckline that pulls the shoulders in towards each other. It has built-in padding for those that want the extra bust volume. The long straps mean the top doesn’t crop too high up, and it has enough length so it draws the eye down. Rather than creating the unflattering crop where everything is too short, tiny, and unflattering on many shapes! So pretty—love this one.

2) Nike Zenvy Rib Sports Bra — I love this style! I rarely find sports bras that have a long V neck, with straps that taper upwards, AND are more of a straight shoulder strap (instead of halter neck). The open back means the bra can conform to your body shape rather than trying to squish and squeeze yourself into it. It’s so feminine, yet practical. Very flattering with that lovely V neck!! Also comes in black!

3) Lululemon Nulu Scoop Neck Tank (ribbed sides) — this is such a great length. Not too long, not too short. The thicker shoulder straps mean the top doesn’t ride up as much and doesn’t cut into your shoulders. The scoop neck draws the shoulders in towards each other, and creates a lovely flattering shape around the chest. I love that the ribbed side means it’s a little more fitted at the waist, so it creates some nice waist shape.

4) New Balance Rib Light Sports Bra — love the thick straps and the fact it isn’t a “true” halter neck (I dislike halter necks lol). The long crop means it has more coverage than a regular sports bra (love that) and the thicker straps mean it doesn’t cut into your skin and get uncomfortable. Again, I love the scoop neck and how supportive it feels without feeling “blocky” or overly heavy. Love it!

3 Haircare styling favourites 💁🏽‍♀️🫶🏼

1) Pureology Color Fanatic Leave In Conditioner — my hair isn’t colored but I still love this leave in. It’s light weight, hydrating and smells amazing. Even if I ‘overspray’ it still doesn’t weigh my hair down, or leave it feeling product heavy. I don’t use this for heat protection, purely for post hair wash hydration before going in with heat protection and/or oils.

2) Mise En Scene Original Hair Repair Serum — I seriously love this and I purchased it accidentally! It’s so light weight, yet provides proper ‘slip’ and detangling. It’s light enough that I can use it around my scalp when I want to tame my frizz, but doesn’t sit on top of my hair. It has never left my hair feeling heavy or greasy. I use this several nights per week, sometimes in the morning. I also combine this with other oils.

3) Living Proof PhD Dry Shampoo — I’ve tried SO many dry shampoos. This one is by far the stand out for me. Even though it sprays ‘white’, it blends/fades well but still properly lifts my roots and absorbs oil. I’ve never found a dry shampoo that comes close to this. Even the Advanced Clean version from Living Proof doesn’t work as well as this one (for me). I get 3-4 extra days of my styled hair when I use this. Seriously love it!

Outfit 3: Neutral

This outfit is relatively straightforward, which is what neutral colours are best used for!

The light beige top blends well with the khaki skirt because they are in a similar tonal family. Plus, the neutral works well on my skin as it holds warm undertones, so it brings out warmth in my olive skin. This type of neutral works better than white or black because it complements the skirt and doesn’t add visual heaviness or “starkness” through a competing color (even in a neutral) 💛

Outfit 2: Contrast

This outfit could also be described as soft contrast with a complementary accent. The khaki skirt and blush pink top are complementary (they sit opposite each other on the color wheel).

The pop of orangey-red via the bag allows for the contrast element. The important note is the bag color choice is still complementary to the outfit, however, the orangey-red is more saturated in color, so it creates a focal point which draws your eye toward it.

Contrast could be described as “tension.” However, tension can be a good thing when the color choice is correct. In this case, the bag complements the other colors but creates just enough “tension” to add contrast and visual interest.

Outfit 1: Harmony

This outfit is leveraging the power of warm tones to create warm harmony. If you think about the color wheel, this would be an ‘Analogous’ combination. Essentially pairing colors together that sit next to each other on the color wheel. The khaki green skirt, brown top and green/gold shoes work well because these colours are all representative of woody, earthy tones. They blend nicely and create a sense of “harmony” or visual balance. It’s easy to look at and feels quite soothing. Pro tip: the undertones are all warm which is important in creating harmony! 🍃🍂
