This client felt like she wasn’t getting enough from her waves… and she was right!

Wavy hair can be tricker because it’s hard to remember that this hair pattern is still technically considered a curl. This means it needs to be styled for its specific shape, density, and pattern–even if it isn’t a full ringlet!

I didn’t want her to leave this appointment feeling like she couldn’t replicate her results at home, so I spent most of this appointment showing her how to achieve these results on her own and I honestly love how these waves turned out.

We breathed some life into these curls and this gorgeous hair will get to go natural so much more going forward.

I call that a win.

Well, surprise! It is.

DRENCH that hair until it feels like seaweed.

Follow up with gel and rake it from roots to ends.

Then take my favorite brush in the entire world under to smooth and section out the hair.

I suggest kicking butt (or ass) on wash day, so that your curls have awesome definition. Great definition means longevity for your curls.

Having curly hair is HARD.

I wish there were a better way to convey this, but I think the easiest phrase to remember here is “beauty is pain”.

It takes a long time to figure out how to style your hair in a way that compliments your natural curls best and that method often takes more time than a typical styling technique.

But with all of that said (and felt), it’s worth it.

There’s a reason you feel more confident wearing your hair the way it naturally grows. There’s a reason you get so many compliments when you wear it that way. There’s a reason it holds its shape longer in this state.

It’s because you’re meant to embrace your uniqueness and your body feels it when you do.

So yeah, it sucks that product made you want to rip all of that gorgeous hair out. But one bad hair day means you’re closer to finding the products that DO work for you. 🩷
