Casual Office Capsule Wardobe🤩

The cool thing about a casual office capsule wardrobe, is that you can actually build a really cool wardrobe that you feel excited to wear AT work, and outside of work. Your formula is:
1 casual piece + 1 dressy piece

These pieces are from a basic capsule wardrobe colour palette; but if you dont like these colours, you can do this exact style of dressing in another colour palette ☺️

Cream or Ivory satin pants - the pant for the wardrobe that’ll have you prepped for semi-dressy to ultra dressy events! (PS This one is sold out - from DECJUBA but I’ve linked some similar styles here).

This neutral kind of pant is often undervalued (or not a common piece to have in the wardrobe - because it’s more high maintenance than other styles, BUT when it comes to versatility, and its ability to “lift” any outfit, all the way to a formal occasion, it is a very savvy piece to have in the wardrobe - especially if you attend events occasionally, and don’t always have the time to do a lot of browsing and window shopping before every event.

This can be either just the foundation of a wardrobe that’s easy to navigate and create stylish outfits from, or the complete wardrobe if you like to keep it lean. Usually when people say they only wear 20% of their wardrobe, it’s because the 20% is easiest to reach, pair and wear. And the remaining 80% is a combination of special occasion pieces or pieces that need a little more time to build a whole outfit for.

If you’d like easy, chic pairings, having a method that works is my favourite way to increase your chances of satisfaction on a day to day basis, and in this case, we’re leaning into monochromatic and tonal dressing.

PS. If you don’t love these colours, this can be applied to other colour seasons or colour palettes and still creates the desired result of “put together” while maintaining casual 👌🏽

For a coat that you can dress down and up, go for ⬇️

📌Buttons instead of a wrap belt (a tied belt is more casual than buttons)

📌Double-breasted can feel more dressy; this will make your coat suitable for events & occasions as well as wearing over a hoodie-set.

📌For COLOUR: If you wear a lot of bright colours, like fire engine red, electric blue, sunshine yellow, or even pastels, like baby blue, powder pink, etc, you may find that a Black Coat is more complimentary to your outfits (or if you like white…an Ivory coat would be stunning too!!)

📌 …. And if you wear lots of deep colours, like mahogany, olive green, shades of beige, you may find that a Tan or Taupe will be more versatile for you. Funnily enough, if you like to wear black, Tan or Taupe may still your way to go as it can “lift” an outfit while still keeping it sleek.

The tips around colour and Red:

1️⃣ Red - like any colour, has cool
and warm versions. As a colour, it’s known to be a warm colour, it’s the undertones that make one shade of red look really great against your complexion, and another shade of red look blah. In short, if you feel like red doesn’t look great on you, it could just be a mismatch in undertone.

2️⃣ A red piece in your wardrobe is like the equivalent of a red lipstick - but for clothes. It’s bold enough to change the vibe of your outfit completely, and classic enough to never “just be a trend”.

3️⃣ The fun thing about red is that it goes with all neutrals … which is why I think it’s one of the best first colours to add into a freshly rebuilt capsule wardrobe

⚡️ If you’re looking for the most versatile kind of material, consider leather. Leather crosses all seasons - Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring. The Mira bag demonstrates how a leather piece can have a Summer (or warm weather) characteristic thanks to its woven design.

1️⃣ What do I need it for? This dictates size & shape

2️⃣ Colour: If you have more earthy colours in your wardrobe and/or light neutrals and navy, Tan or Beige will likely be most complimentary for you; Black will likely be most complimentary for you if you have a lot of black and/or bright colours in your wardrobe. (White will also be complimentary to your wardrobe if you have lots of bright colours)

3️⃣Material: Matte leather is usually the most versatile (as noted above)

4️⃣Confirm your Shape: based on what you’re packing. If you want your belongings to naturally be more “organised” inside of the bag, rectangular shapes (like the Trinity Carry-All & Maya Leather Tote” will likely make it easiest to pack / unpack. If you prefer the design aesthetic of curved pieces, and don’t mind either using a bag organiser, or having your items settle in the bag as they are, curved designs (like the Mira) will work for you. I’m a function + design girly so I lean towards designs like the Mira for everyday bags, but the Trinity Carry-All and Maya for work bags.

Tips summary ⬇️
1. Pants that can be tucked into the boot are “easy” go-to styles if you don’t want to have to think about whether pants are too long or too short for the boot
2. A-line skirts & dresses can compliment the boot with the flare of the skirt giving space for the chunkiness of the boot to stand alone.
3. Pencil type skirts or dresses with splits have a similar effect to A-line skirts or dresses since the split gives space for the chunkiness of the boot to stand alone rather than to feel too compressed in material in one area.
4. Where you may enjoy wearing combat boots for the comfort of flat shoes and foot protection 🤓:
5. Concerts, events on grass (eg. Music festivals), going to the markets on drizzly days. I’ve worn mine for errands days, and days when I used to be a photographer, shooting on-location.

Kept the all-black for now so we could focus on the shapes & fits you could have in this capsule to make the pieces interchangeable and a little more size-flexible compared to other styles.
