On this first episode of Zoe Tries It (the series where I try out vintage era products still available today that were once loved by old Hollywood stars) I try: Florida Water cologne by Murray & Lanman…aka: comedy icon Lucille Ball’s favorite scent (so much so, in fact, that she requested it while on her death bed). My verdict? I love the idea of it (sweet orange & clove?! Yes please!) and I like that it’s not overpowering because I truly wouldn’t have been able to handle it. It gets worse over time and Lucy deserved better. But to each their own! If you’d like to try it yourself, it’s available in several stores, typically for under $10. (Also sorry, not sorry, Florida! Vintage Revlon Lipstick Shades You Can Still Buy Today
Part 2: Fatal Apple

In this series, I will be trying as many vintage shades of Revlon lipstick still available today that I can get my hands on!

Please hear me out because I know this subject has been done before & there’s a great list out there (not made by me & if you know who by please let me know so I can give credit where it’s due!) with some of these shades, but there are a few missing from that list (assuming because of Revlon re-releasing additional shades since the list came out) so I’d like to cover those & any others that I can find & research. (An additional shoutout to cosmeticsandskin.com for a lot of this info.)

We begin with Orange Flip - a shade included in the 1964 Moon Drops collection (the Moon Drops line began in 1960 with skincare & expanded to lipstick in 1964; the collection & shade are still in Revlon’s lipstick lineup today). According to Revlon’s 1965 Tips on Shade Selection booklet, Orange Flip is categorized as an “orange red” and I don’t disagree. I got my hands on a vintage version found the shade to be incredibly similar to the modern so if you want to dress up like a 1960s lady who loved her some Moon Drops, get yourself a modern version & have fun!
