How to Elevate Your Pencil Tree If I’m telling the truth, pencil trees aren’t my favorite. I think they have their place especially if you have a spall space. But, you can also make the most of a pencil tree. Here’s how. 1. Elevate your tree by placing it on a table. 2. Use a ton of decor to make the tree appear larger. On this tree, I had a ton of wooden toys that Santa might bring on his sleigh including a full wooden train. I also had Santa himself attached at the top of the tree. I had oversized ornaments, layered ribbons and a topper. By placing the tree on the table and using so much decor, the tree took up more visual space. I used one strand of the original warm white snake lights, but the multi-color lights would have been a fun touch if I had had them at the time.
