My weighted vest is 20lbs- I have been jogging 2-3 days/ week and lift weights 2-3 days per week. I would go with the 12 or 15 lb vest if you are new to lifting. It does feel heavy but does not pull or dig in anywhere! Definitely engages the core while walking!
