Today I’m sharing one of my most popular DIY transformations from last year. If you love the Pottery Barn Seadrift finish, but don’t love the price, grab a piece of furniture off Facebook Marketplace and give it a Glow Up using my step-by-step tutorial. I was able to complete this project from start to finish over a weekend by sanding & priming on Saturday, and painting & staining on Sunday. This same technique will work on real wood, veneer, or even particleboard. *Instructions* Scuff sand your furniture, using fine sandpaper, making sure to scuff off any varnish or poly. This allows the paint to adhere to it properly. Wipe it down, then prime it using Kilz. I used a disposable sponge brush for this. Once fully dry, apply a coat of Behr in the color Rugged Tan, semi gloss finish. Next, you’ll need a deck staining brush, and a can of Rustoleum glaze, in the color Java Brown. Very lightly dip the ends of brush into the glaze and work it onto the furniture it in light back-and-forth strokes. Start very light because you can always add more to get your desired wood-tone.
